The Valiant Scanning Project: Missing Issues [Update Two!]
As best I can determine, the following is the comprehensive list of the missing issues. Please note: I have included some Acclaim issues, even though I will be archiving them separately.
Bloodshot 25-35, 38-40, 42-48, 50, 51, & Last Stand
Deathmate Blue, Yellow, Red
Eternal Warrior 35, 38, 39, 41, 45, 46, 49, 50, Wings, Fist & Steel 1,2
Geomancer 2-5
Harbinger 29, 36
Magnus 45-49, 51, 54-56, 59-61, 63
Ninjak 13-26, 0, 00
PSI Lords 7-10
Rai 20, 27, 31-33
Secrets Of The Valiant Universe 1
Shadowman 42, 43
Solar 39, 41-46 ,50
Timewalker 3-13, 15
Turok 11, 12, 18, 22-26, 30, 31, 33-37, 41, 43
Visitor 2, 4-8, 10-13
[Both Secret Weapons and X-O are done!!!]
One of the scans I have is missing some pages. Harbinger #25 (the big 'Harada vs. Stachek' bout!). Anyone has a complete scan of this?
Anyone willing to help by scanning any or all of these missing issues would be GREATLY appreciated. I will revisit this post and edit this list as we work our way through the missing issues.
If you DO decide to scan remember to save your scans as jpegs and scan two page spreads as a single page (so that they will scroll properly in the viewer). If you need specifics such as resoution/image size details, please feel free to PM me.
Thanks again to all who are participating!

Re: RE: The Valiant Scanning Project: Missing Issues
I'll take Bloodshot, starting with #16 (not sure 'bout LAST STAND at this time, but we'll see). I'll also do the SW "Rampage" crossovers.Hoosierdaddy wrote:Ok. I'm having the same problems decompressing X-O Manowar 38, 39, 40 & 41.
Anyone else have problems with any of these issues or the ones I listed above? It's kinda frustrating!
:x
Edit: Just got the same problem from Magnus 50. Did the same person do all these books or something? Why is it that 99% are working fine but these few that are slightly larger files than the average not working? Grrrr!

Not me...Clark Kent wrote:Magnus 36 & 37 and Secret Weapons 20 & 21 wouldn't work. I downloaded them and they would not decompress because of an error in the file.... I'm having the same problems decompressing X-O Manowar 38, 39, 40 & 41.

Check if you've gotten all of it. They should be:
Magnus 36 - 10 365 601 bytes
Magnus 37 - 10 233 571 bytes
Magnus 50 - 7 979 370 bytes
X-O 38 - 8 426 276 bytes
X-O 39 - 12 047 415 bytes
X-O 40 - 6 640 869 bytes
X-O 41 - 9 293 134 bytes
Secret Weapons 20 - 6 278 343 bytes
Secret Weapons 21 - 6 523 612 bytes
Looking at the scanner's signature it does seem that exactly the X-O run above is made by one scanner. He's one of the more active scanners, so if you have problems with his files you are really out of luck. On the other hand, he didn't do the others, so that's probably not it.Did the same person do all these books or something?
/Magnus
ps, while Ninjak 5 is missing, there has been a report that it exists in scanned form out there somewhere...

I see files sizes that are different than what you just listed.
For instance, Magnus 36 is 9.89 MB and Magnus 37 is 9.76.
I tried downloading Magnus 36 again. I've got a Mac, so I've got to change the files extension to .rar, which turns it into a format my computer can normally decompress using stuffit. Then I just double click and it should do its thing and then add a folder to my desktop with all the images. That's what happens with 99.8% of the pre-Chaos Effect comics. With the few I've listed above, I get this error warning:
"An error has occurred while expanding the files 'Magnus Robot Fighter 36.rar' (Format error)."
Why is this only happening with these random comics? Anyone able to help me here?

if that doesnt' work open it and one that does work with resedit...do "get info" on both and check to see that the one that doesn't work has the same information in the boxes as the one that does...
If that still doesn't work, if you tell me where you got it I'll give it a whack.
Why waste time learning, when ignorance is instantaneous?

Apparently I'm stupid. It was a slightly outdated version of stuffit that was to blame. I upgraded the program and the problem immediately went away. Maybe the person that compressed the files used something newer than my program could recognize and that was the problem.
So, ignore everything I wrote above and get back to your regularly scheduled activities.
