To the bitter end
I know we've had posts like these in the past, but since we have so many new members I thought it might be a good time to do another one.
How many of you (besides me) kept buying new Valiant books to the bitter end no matter how cruddy it got? For those of you that didn't, feel free to post your jumping off point if you want.

Think Youngblood with a twist.
And with the feet drawn in.
What about teeth?
At least 50.
So Liefeld drew for VALIANT?

I was HEAVY into VALIANT fairly early (not Magnus #1, but before Unity) I was buying everything VALIANT put out,
me and 3 other of my friends (FabtasyfootballBono [an old member here]was one of them) were in it together in college, we would drive to this weekly comic convention in (Fullerton?) and all over, to get our books, and the back issues we needed...
but around a few months after Turok #1 we just stopped, a couple of my buds "took the money and ran" (sold the early books for big $$, for hundreds of $$, to teenagers with rich dads
)
I don't remember deciding to stop buying the books.. it just happened...
So now I am on the hunt to get a complete run...
At least I didn't sell my books...

Chaos Effect did it for me... I had pretty much come in RIGHT BEFORE Unity, and I loved the stuff. But, by C.E., there was a noticeable drop in quality, and I found the enjoyment I got out of my VALIANTS just wasn't there, yet I was spending $3 per book, on the entire line. I drew the line at Chaos Effect, knowing that if I ever wanted to pick these up again, I knew where I left off.
I still haven't found the urge to pick anything up after this, and a lot of it before C.E. still holds no power over me. Under advice from many members here, I will at some point have all of the VH1 Harbinger, Shadowman and Rai books, and most of Archer & Armstrong and Eternal Warrior. Bloodshot, I'll haveta take issue by issue...

Some people spend their whole lives believing in fairy tales, usually because they don't want to give up the fabulous prizes.

I collected all of the books until the end of Unity. I continued with Archer & Armstrong, The Eternal Warrior, and Bloodshot. I still have all of those. The other books got too bad from there on in. I was really bumed out about the fall of Magnus and XO Manowar as they were my favorites when Valiant first started.

I got in around, just after Unity infact this...

Cover appearing in Comics International, with the name Jim Shooter attached to it was the first time I really noticed VALIANT. But it took me while to get on board.
I got out around Choas Effect, my beloved Shadowman had lost me a bit by then.

bailed out right before the Chaos Effect, I was buying every VALIANT book, and it was around that time that I became more conscious about how much money I was actually spending on comics. Since I wasn't really enjoying the books at that point, I decided it was time to drop them all and save the money.

I also quit VALIANT just prior to "Chaos Effect".
A few years ago, I was selling off some of my collection just because I had too damn much. I picked the point in each of the VALIANT titles where I thought they had "jumped the shark" and kept everything before that. Got rid of a few trades, too.
Yesterday, at my local comic shop, I picked up six VALIANT trades, and one issue of Solar I was able to find in his dollar boxes. I knew as I was doing it that this was "that damn message board's fault". So, yeah, I guess I'm back in now.

19) VALIANT WILL RETURN.
It'll be a celebration of complete chaos and destruction.
It'll be a glorious time of weeping. The earth will shift on its axis.
