Can you spot the difference between the two (other than the coloring)?

This is from an advertisement for coming Valiant books in Magnus #8

Yeah... wow. The advertisement is by far a much more effective image than the final published cover.

Less negative space and a more balanced composition. More saturated colours. Warmer colour scheme. More detail in the colouring (see Flamingo's flames and the yellow tint on the pipes above). Maybe if the water in the published version was done better.

The removal was probably done at the last minute because someone realized Kris was resting up from being shot in #1

I'm not trying to be different, but i like the second one better. The first one seams to busy, and the second one just looks a little more realistic and cleaner.

the published cover has too many pastels.
