That pretty much sums up my low bid on that exact auction. Nice to see you were the weinner...er winner who won.Brother J wrote:Greg,
Did you get it yet? I think most of us saw that auction, but there was a lot of question marks. No pictures and he was only willing to take money order payment. I was wondering if the guy really had the trade.

since I just sent payment, that's not surprising.
I emailed him a couple of times during the auction...
I got the impression that he was probably a Predator fan,
and since he mentioned the two books, the platinum, and the tpb separately,
I think he's got 'em.
That and the fact that he said, "Yeah, that's the one" when I sent him
a picture of the TPB... after I got him to describe its condition.
But... until I have it in my hands... we'll see!

When you think about it...ZephyrWasHOT!! wrote:I'm not. Just offering an opinion on the crazy prices people pay for REPRINTS.
isn't something like this just a "reprint" of the same item that was identical for 26 years?

It only took 3 years from the out of court settlement to sell it. Gotta love red tape.

Why would someone pay 7.6 million for something that obviously says 20 dollars on it? They should have payed more attention.greg wrote:When you think about it...ZephyrWasHOT!! wrote:I'm not. Just offering an opinion on the crazy prices people pay for REPRINTS.

No. The date's different. That makes it a variant.greg wrote:When you think about it...ZephyrWasHOT!! wrote:I'm not. Just offering an opinion on the crazy prices people pay for REPRINTS.

Like I said...to each his own...if you dig it....GREAT! But the Diamonds are SPECIAL reprints created for a specific reason....Vault-Keeper wrote:Too bad all Valiant fans aren't like you, Zeph, or I'd take the entire print run of the Diamond Unity TPB's. After all, they're just reprints...---Steve G
The Predator Vs. Magnus TPB is just a reprint.

Look, I say the SAME THING about the Miracleman trades, but all I'm saying is it's just ME....I thoroughly understand supply and demand and free market economics.
I just don't understand why folks get all hot n' bothered about them in the first place, OTHER THAN they're really, really rare.

Vault-Keeper wrote:The Dave Dorman cover painting isn't a reprint. In fact, Dark Horse & Valiant probably paid Dorman more for his painting than they did BWS for his fairly lackluster covers of #1 & 2.
This is true, but I'm not paying $60+ for a nice cover.

Nope. Never have, never will. I have an ethical problem with comic companies releasing the trades for MORE THAN the originals. Trades have become cash cows for the publishers, which is GREAT for them, but if the original mini cost $5.90....why does the TPB cost $9.95? (as an example.)Would you have bought it if you could have got it for 25% off cover when it came out?---Steve G
They've ALREADY paid for the art, production, film, etc etc etc. Why, if the ORIGINALS had a combined cover price of, say, $10....is the TRADE $14.95?
The nifty intro....?
Yes, there's all sorts of economic reasons to do this (you get the casual reader crowd who wants a whole story, etc), but I don't think it's fair to the fans who SUPPORT the companies...but that's just me.
The one shining example opposed to this is Dave Sim...Flight, for example, covers 12 issues at $2.25 each, or $27....yet, the trade is $17. Gotta love the Simster.

One reason is that there usually aren't any ads in them like in their comic book couterparts so that's one less means of profit. I like them because I don't have to keep openning up stupid comic bags in the middle of a story. Plus I can treat a tpb like crap and it doesn't matter if I get pudding on it.ZephyrWasHOT!! wrote: Nope. Never have, never will.
