But this is the one I wanted to show!!! I did not think CGC would slab this book but I took a chance!!
NOTE: Notice it does not say blue variant!!

That sure worked out well. Is it the first Rai TPB of either color they have slabbed?mnc93 wrote:But this is the one I wanted to show!!! I did not think CGC would slab this book but I took a chance!!

Re: Back from CGC!!
I've seen a slabbed Rai TPB before, I just can't remember which colour it was.magnusr wrote:That sure worked out well. Is it the first Rai TPB of either color they have slabbed?mnc93 wrote:But this is the one I wanted to show!!! I did not think CGC would slab this book but I took a chance!!

But you have to pay shipping both ways right ??ckb wrote:They'll just re-slab it for free.myron wrote:would they just re-label it or will they regrade it too...ckb wrote:I've tried with this book before, but have not got one by at 9.8.
It's a shame you will have to send it back it to get it labeled as the variant.
Is it worth it ??? I mean it is pretty clear that is is the blue cover variant

Would they relabel it on site at a con?siren3-4 wrote:But you have to pay shipping both ways right ??ckb wrote:They'll just re-slab it for free.myron wrote:would they just re-label it or will they regrade it too...ckb wrote:I've tried with this book before, but have not got one by at 9.8.

I always thought that you could submit on site but that they mail you the book back. It they do it all there, how much do they charge ?myron wrote:Would they relabel it on site at a con?siren3-4 wrote:But you have to pay shipping both ways right ??ckb wrote:They'll just re-slab it for free.myron wrote:would they just re-label it or will they regrade it too...ckb wrote:I've tried with this book before, but have not got one by at 9.8.

It doesn't matter much... and it's probably not worth getting it relabeled.
Everyone can see that it is blue, and that it is a CGC 9.8... that's enough.
CGC's census won't be correct, but the census is always less than 100% accurate anyway,
since people are resubmitting older books so often.
I'm fairly certain that when CGC began grading Harbinger #0, they didn't identify them as the Pink Variant.
So, of the 25 copies of "Harbinger #0" (supposedly the blue 2nd printing),
I think it's safe to say that at least a dozen of them are actually Pink.
CGC is less specific about the Shadowman Volume 3 books as well...
they didn't know which variant was which when they started grading them,
so now they have what appear to be the correct categories, but there are slabbed
copies that are labeled wrong for those as well.
If you ask me, it's no biggie... collectors won't be fooled.

I could see the 3 versions of # 1 being a little confusing, especially since 2 covers have the same image. Looking at the census, it appears only 5 # 2's have been submitted - all variants....

Yep, I forgot about the registry... seems like they should be able to correct it in their database...ckb wrote:You would need to resub if you ever wanted it to be part of a registry set. At least a set that identified it as a variant.hulk181man wrote:Nice bookI agree, no need to re-submit. We all know what it is....
but they're comic graders, not DBAs.

I think the first copy of #2 graded wasn't recorded as a variant...hulk181man wrote:greg wrote:

but they've either fixed it since then, or just fixed the registry.

They charge $20 for on-site grading for moderns, I don't think it's a "deal" financially, but it may be a "deal" timewise.siren3-4 wrote:Greg,
Have you ever submitted at a con or show ? Do you know anything about charges or if you get them backthe same day ?
Thanks,
Mike
There's a difference between "CGC will be at a show" and "CGC will be slabbing on-site at a show".
CGC has a representative at a lot of shows who accepts books and takes them back to Florida.
They grade "on-site" rarely (due to taking all the equipment).
I believe they should be able to do a "label correction" on-site if they're grading on-site, but that's not very often.

You can have books reholdered on site at the conventions CGC grades at. If the reason they are reholdering (as in this case) is their fault there would be no charge. You would also get it back at the convention depending on how busy they are.siren3-4 wrote:I always thought that you could submit on site but that they mail you the book back.
