I'm not big on autographs myself, especially ones like that. I guess Bernard wanted to make sure folks visiting from another planet could see his sig from outer space.....

Same here. I especially don't like seeing autographs on rare comics.

There was an edition of the CEAR that came with that big Bernard Chang signature, and came with a letter from VALIANT. These were sent to certain dealers. I forget what they had to do, I think in this case it was fill out a survey. Since a lot of them came with the Chang signature, I don't feel that it should subtract from the value of the book. In fact, if it comes complete with the letter, I think the signed CEAR often goes for a slight premium over the unsigned CEAR.

Now, if this is the case, then I have no problem with it and would definitely pay more to get it.
But if it's not an official auto than I'd pass.

Well, I guess there's no way to prove it's official unless it comes with the letter, but it's certainly signed the same way with the same colored ink as the one I had that came with the VALIANT letter and in the VALIANT mylar.

Reserve of $175!!!

:o

Seller claims this is from the estate of not only a huge VALIANT fan, but one of our own board members. Anyone willing to step up with any corroborating evidence?

It says estate.. which means maybe someone who passed away.. I can only think of one person in that category

I put a bid on it.. We'll see how far it goes... I dont care if it has a sig or not.. it looks like its in good condition..

I mean, man it looks beat up.. no one else should bid on it.. its looks to be in real poor shape.. maybe 8.2?

Mr. CEAR himself - Chainnball - chatted up Bernard Chang at New York(?) Comic Con last year and there was something like a run of 500 of those.

Actually, he stated he wasn't actually sure of the exact numbers but thought it was only around a case of them. On a side note, Bob Layton was right there and they commented about getting paid $5 per autograph for VVSS's and such.

This guy probably set his reserve price that high after watching this auction last week.

Oh well.. Im NOT paying that much at all..

Yknow.. Even if he offers it to me at a lower rate I don't think I will take it because even when DNV comes out, Im thinking that Chaos wont be a part of the new continuity... so why even bother..

It's ironic that one the worst Valiant books is also one the most sought after. Good thing they didn't have such a limited run on the Deathmate retailer books...

Strange how a bidding frenzy occurred for the last one listed, but not this week.

Now he's put a reserve back on. Plus he added a BIN for $237.82. Why that exact amount?

I am setting my Buy It Now at $10.00 higher then the seller that sold this exact same book on July 29th except that the bonus is that mine is autographed

So now he's going even higher than the last time it didn't sell? Good luck on that.

Do take into consideration that this was Trents. He has since lowered it to starting bid of $75 with no reserve. Considering it came from Trents estate I would imagine it is the real deal even if it does not have a COA.

Just spoke with him again. He is lowering it to a starting price of $60 with a BIN of $100 with no reserve.
