Sean Chen Penguins ~ Non Valiant

Post by siren3-4 »

This is an open love letter to these wonderful little sculptures . . . :cloud9:

I am addicted and so like any addict I have to get my fix . . . Sean sells these at shows and some of you may already own some yourself. Correct me if I am wrong but I believe he sells them for $25 - $30

Well . . I need them . . . I want them for skits . . for display . . . and for that warm happy feeling I get when I look at them (sometimes I get stuck looking at them, like I am making a little movie in my head) . . . I am going to create a large Iceburg display in our back room for them . . . here are a few of the Non-Valiant ones . . .

Image

Besides those pictured above, I believe there is a Moon Knight and a Silver Surfer penguin . . . if there are any others please let me know.

Along with the 3 Valint penguins I own . . . I was able to buy a Batman & Captain America penguin from a very kind person. (You know who you are and I remain in your debt. I love them.)

So I still need Punisher, Superman, Moon Knight and the Silver Surfer . . .

If anyone can either pick one up for me at a con, or sell me theirs, I am willing to pay all shipping expenses and $50.00 for each penguin . . .

I also have a nice collection of Silver Age Amazing Spider-Man comics (and other titles) and I would be willing to work out a trade (trade will work out in your favor, believe me) :) . . . I can supply scans and whatever else may be needed . . . You can post or PM me with any info . . .

Thank you for taking the time to read this . . . Sean, thank you for making these . . . I may be going crazy as I have been working 14 hour days 7 days a week with the opening of school . . but these little guys keep me sane . . .

-Mike

We were in chat with Sean last night. Of course I brought up the penguis.

Here is what came out.

The hardest part for Sean is actually shipping them out.

Also, he said that another Valiant pengui will be available at the NY show in Nov.

And I brought up a Master Darque pengui......

He said it is comming.... but in limited numbers!

Darque Pengui...... comming soon..........

It was the first time that I have ever chatted with someone who was part of the creative staff at VALIANT and it was not what I expected. He was a very nice guy, he took part in the conversations and even joked around with us. I guess I have read a great deal about alot of different artists that either have large egos or are just difficult for whatever other reasons, and those things are what stick in my head. I do know that I have read from many people on this board that Sean Chen is a really great guy to meet. Thank you Mr. Chen for your time last night. As Elveen said, a real class act.

Yep, that seals it - I am NYC-bound come November.

I hope my brother is out of my sister's apt. by then... anyone watching any of the U.S. Open tennis tournament this year probably caught a glimpse of him, he's a ball-boy (jokes, I've heard 'em all, prolly made up half of 'em myself) for the second year in a row now.

I can't believe I'm going to admit this . . .

You know how some people at work have pictures of their family . . .

I printed out and laminated this picture (in black and white) and I have it hanging at my desk:

Image

. . . sad you say ? . . . a little weird . . .

Well . . . you can all go to hell . . .

I’ll post a picture if I get a chance . . . :)

I would love to get a hold of the penguins myself.

I remember there being a thread about 18 months so we could sign up to get them... I expressed my interest but never heard anything.

Are these available at all, or have the gone completely underground?

Sean sells them at shows . . . (no mail order otherwise I would have them all already :( )

If you go to a con and he is there you can get them for about $25 each . .

Sounds good. I'm trying to make the New York show this year... maybe I can get hooked up then.
