DC to reprint Valiant issues

Post by Lightning Strike »

From comicbookresources.com:

HE WHO WOULD VALIANT BE

Also at the party I got to chatting with a bunch of people intent on reviving the Valiant Universe. And, I understand there's a possibility DC may be reprinting the published works as trade paperbacks, with a little Miracleman-style skirting around Magnus and Solar for copyright purposes. And probably paying a lot less for the rights than they would have had to years ago when Acclaim made the offer...

Interesting :hm:

Someone mentioned something like this awhile back and said they heard it at their LCS. Bah....just rumors.

I've inquired with those who would know... I'll let you know what they say...
(unless they come here and say it themselves)

I think it's a ridiculous statement...
makes me wonder how much alcohol
had been consumed at that point
in the party.

Ahh, I hadn't thought of that.

If it was VIP then it's even more ridiculous.

That's like saying you can recreate Adam and Eve because you have some dirt and a spare rib.

Assuming it is VIP, maybe they are spreading these rumors. Publicity and all that. They really seem to think they have a chance.

Quickest way to kill valiant's return? Put morrison and lee (where the hell is WildCATS #2) or miller and lee on the creative duties.

As far as I'm aware, no one from VEI was there at that bar that night. I would think they would be the people who would make that decision.

They wouldn't be reprinting Deathmate, would they?
:?
Well there isn't a huge amount of harm that can come reprinting past works, can there? I mean how badly could they screw reformatting and re-releasing previously released work?

or do I even want to know?

I would think alot of that would already belong to Image...not DC.

I don't think they could sell a reprint when the originals are still easily available for next to nothing.

They might be trying to negotiate some kind of DC/Valiant crossover with VEI that would give both companies a chance for some Deathmate type hype. But reprints of any Valiant work by DC doesn't make sense.

Good point. They could sell an Archer and Armstrong trade for $20, or you can buy those issues for 10 cents each.

It doesn't really fly though because any product like this will have some value added. You can get the Harbinger TPB + 0,5-7 for far less than the new Harbinger Hardcover. Hell, you could go all the way to 25! :-)

humm just to have trade, recoloring... or better (to me) showcase/essential type..
let's face it (at least for me) i won't buy 10 HC 24.99 prices to have arun on a series (for XO )
I'd be gladly take 3 16.99 or 19.99 trade black and white
