Anyone have photoshop skills-Book Binding Dies

Post by ncameron »

I am looking at having some dies made and need some b/w logos made in vector format. If anyone can help me out as I no longer have access to photoshop and have forgotten so much since I used it in college the results would likely be awful, it would be most appreciated.

I would like to get a Valiant logo for the spine, and a Bloodshot logo and the Magnus Logo for the front of the book. FOr Magnus either the original logo, or the later one I am curious to see either. I think the original would look cooler, but feel it might not translate well as a die.

Thanks
-Neil

I've pm'ed Steve a few times in regards to issue breakdowns for his bloodshot set, he does the dust jackets, but I looked over a few examples of bound books using dies and there is just something strangly cool about them. Way more expensive but thats why I am planning on only doing them for books that I really want to stnad out.

Neil,

I can defintely do Photoshop. Do the dies HAVE to be in vector formats? I made a couple of B/W images for a friend for die and there were JPEG format.

I first got an idea for what i wanted as a die, by using the cover to Rai ) and the bloodshot logo figure that would make a striking image.

Image

Then I inverted the cover to rai 0.

so thats step 1
If someone can clean up the bloodshot logo and make it a little bigger I think it would be quite cool.

thanks

You don't need to have Photoshop. Gimp can probably do what you want and more and it's free open source.

Here's the link: http://www.gimp.org/

I've personally used it for a project recently and was pretty impressed with it. Though, I'm no Photoshop expert, but it seemed to be able to do almost anything photoshop could do even accept some of the same filters.

Try it and see for yourself.
