Spoilers, well not really if you've been paying attention but still...

The new Cap is Bucky!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, I know, that's been obvious forever now but it was just nice to see that finally confirmed at the end of 33. It's going to be awesome to see him put on the flag next issue and go after the Red Skull. :D

I cared so little i read the spoiler even though im about two comics away from that issue of Cap.

Another case of the gimick not being required to sell the comics.

They were doing possibly the best job on Cap since i started to read Cap 25 years ago.

Why change it all.

Saying that though, the lucky slow news day caps death fell on made a lot of people stand up and pay attention to comics once again so maybe something good did come of it.

Still unnecessary though IMO

Just after Cap 25 was published, Brubaker said he'd plotted the book out for the next two years with no "return" story planned for Rogers planned. He's said he's been building up to something like this ever since bringing back Bucky so, well..let's put it this way...this is NOT the Death of Superman (which was openly announced as a death and resurrection story even before they went to press). This is more like the death of Barry Allen or the original Blue Beetle.

I'm not looking for Steve to return, I'm just looking forward to the payoff of three years of great stories and seeing another WWII patrotic hero who just came "out of the ice" finding who he is and what his place is in modern America (like Steve did back in the classic 60's stories :D )

Won't be neccessary. I don't read Iron Man but Tony loses his position at SHIELD soon according to the solicitation for Iron Man 25 (maybe it's the governments of saying thanks to him for just single handedly saving the world :) ).

Like I said I hope not.

Since it began as a death storyline and a not death/resurrection story (like Superman) that would be cheap and completely undermine the power of the current (amazing) plotline in Captain America and the powerful, wonderfully written Fallen Son miniseries (how great is it that they can put out a miniseries JUST exploring the emotional impact of Cap's death and the nature of mourning?).

It is hard to compare it with Superman since that was a completely different story with completely different goals. Doomsday was great (one of my fav plotlines) but I'm enjoying the aftermath of Cap's death A LOT more than I ever did Supes. There's actually a real impact and lose here that just didn't happen in Superman (plus we don't have a funeral plotline where half of it's spent showing C-list vigilantes beating up street thugs and the supporting cast fighting over Supes' body :) ). But again, different stories with different goals.

To me Cap and Steve Rogers are synonymous, much like Clark Kent and Bruce Wayne with their respective alter egos. I don't want to see anyone else taking over the roles on a permanent basis. Other heroes like Flash, Green Lantern, Blue Beetle etc. can be replaced, but not Cap, Bats or Supes.

Cap won't be dead long. DJ summed it best. Cap is a character that is and always will be Steve Rogers.

If I didn't read the comic I would 100% agree with you and would've never thought the current plotline (or Bucky's resurrection) could possibly work. But actually reading it, Brubaker makes it all work in spades. The point of the plotline is that there's a part of Captain America that's bigger than just one man (to use the language in Cap's "will"). That's what makes the plotline good and what makes it work.

I would be fine if they abused time travel and somehow managed to keep the Steve Rogers Cap brought back with the Invaders storyline to take over the Cap roll.

I think eventually it gets to a point where those characters who are mortal need to die.

The new Cap is Bucky?

What the hell is going on in The Chosen then? You know, that mini-series about who the next Cap is going to be? Yeah, that's right the one that doesn't have Bucky in.

Bucky is working alongside SHEILD and Stark suggested he would be a good choice but it doesn't say he was the new Cap

I haven't seen Captain America: The Chosen, but the got the impression it was something completely different from what you're describing.

Looks good though.

The Choosen is NOT in Marvel Continuity. Haven't read it but I have read things on it. It was a project with Cap in it that they began developing/working on before the death in Cap 25 was planned (much like the Avengers/Invaders miniseries). In The Choosen's case it was orginally entitled Captian America: The End. But after Cap 25 the title was changed and it's an "elseworlds" kind of thing. The covers look great and it sounds good...

http://www.brokenfrontier.com/reviews/d ... hp?id=1530

What your describing sounds like the ending of the last issue Captain America. You might want to read it again. Bucky clearly says "yes" to being the new Cap. Unless Tony or Bucky change their mind, Bucky puts on the flag next issue.

What happened to 34? Marvel's had it solicited to come out this week forever and even now claims it came out on their website. Diamond's site says it didn't ship and so do the two comicshops I've spoken with today. There was even a huge article about it that ran in the daily paper on Tuesday saying the issue would come out today. People came into comicshops all day asking for the issue (which the comicshop owners say will come out next week now). Doubt many will bother to check back next week.

I'm sorry, but I'm just not one of the fans who like this. I didn't like it when they brought Bucky back from the dead, I didn't like it when they killed Cap (he's one of my favorite characters), and I certainly don't like seeing someone else in Cap's uniform. Been there, done that.
