Anyone know about collectible records (vinyl)?
I was hanging out with my dad last weekend, and somehow the topic got around to collecting (somehow something about how I spend my money on comics). He used to collect records, and he has pretty much every hit from the 50's and 60's on 45rpm records.
Then he pulled out another record, the Rolling Stones first album, promo copy, signed by all the members of the Rolling Stones on the back. He wanted to make sure I knew what he had, in case I ever inherit it.
I have no idea how to go about finding out how much something like this is worth. Any know about this kind of thing?

That is a valuable record. If it was signed when the album came out, and it has Brian Jones sig (d.1969), it would be worth having an auction house like Christies or Sotherby's sell it for you in a 'pop culture' auction. I would have to know more, and do some adiditional reseach, but you're looking at $2k+ on the low end, IMO, just off the top of my head. I deal in records AND autographs.

V-K, thanks for the info. I saw someone selling the same record, unsigned, for $1000 in an ebay store. I don't know if it has Brian Jones' signature or not.Elveen wrote:Vault-Keeper wrote:That is a valuable record. El - the record still belongs to my dad, and he's not gonna give it up anytime soon. I just wanted to ask about it while it was fresh in my mind.
It is a pretty cool record! I never knew my dad was so rad!
