Just my luck
So I bought a book from this person on ebay. Now they didn't have perfect feedback but it was better than average. Dsr's were really good as far as item description so I felt comfortable purchasing. Low and behold as soon as I do, everything goes south.

I had that happen to me at least once. A guy was selling undergrounds, I got the first order fine, but then he later flaked out. I even got the guy's phone number and called him and he claimed the books would be going out, but they never did. It particularly sucked because he had some super rare first printings of a few undergrounds. Luckily I got the most valuable one from him before he flaked out.

I have had a couple of those experiences, both as a buyer and a seller.
People just disappear. Maybe they died or something.
I had one seller who died.....and I had no idea.....but I waited a month or so, and sent a note asking for status....the deceased's next of kin wrote me a response saying the seller had died, and they would take care of his eBay stuff when they could.
Another month, nothing.
I wrote again, asking what was going on, and I got a SCATHING, SCATHING reply, something along the lines of "How DARE you harass us in our time of grief! We told you we'd take care of it, and WE WILL. My (father, husband, I don't remember) just DIED, you heartless JERK!"
I responded that "well, I am very sorry for your loss, but....two months is plenty of time to deal with someone's financial obligations on eBay. I don't know you, and you really have no right to put me in this position. Sorry for your loss, but expecting me to be "understanding" forever is entirely unreasonable on your part. It's not fair, and it's totally inappropriate. Two months is a long enough time to wait."
I don't remember the outcome, I think I filed an eBay claim (this was 6-7 years ago.)
Can you imagine?

About 3 years ago, I won a NM Sandman #8 Karen Burger edition ungraded for only $60. I was so thrilled that I won it for such a small amount and Vikes didnt even bid. In any case, I waited weeks and then called the guy. He feed me this BS that it got lost in the mail and the book was supposedly sent priority mail. I've sent out hundreds of items priority and never had any turn up lost. I said to him lets cut the BS, you just didnt send the book because it went for so low. He just offered to refund my money, but I was really disappointed

I can't imagine that you were still after the money even after knowing of the seller's outcome. Wouldn't you cut your losses and relist the item?ZephyrWasHOT!! wrote:I have had a couple of those experiences, both as a buyer and a seller.
