XO Manowar - dustjacket too small?

Post by Donovan »

Just picked up a copy of XO Manowar: Birth! Can't wait to dig in!

Before I unwrap it though, I notice that my dustjacket is not tall enough to cover the hardcover!

Does everyone else's copy look like this? i don't mind if that's the case, but if mine is an error, I'd rather exchange it!

It looks like they made it a bit shorter than the book to help prevent the dust jacket from getting too damaged. :?

It does appear as if they did this on purpose. I have two copies and both the one I opened as well as my other both have "short" jackets. BUT, the question now becomes, is there a "Long Jacket" variant?

I'm fine with it. :D I like the way it looks and I dont want the dust jacket damaged, so all in all it must be the way it was design.

Ya know... if you have to convince people that you have a legacy member, you probably don't.

i thought the idea of a dust jacket, was to protect the hardcover underneath.

So a smaller dust jacket is pointless, defeats the purpose.

NB ~ someone mentioned library cover on a different thread, to protect the dust jacket, because of the signatures.

Any more info on that?

A couple people mentioned golden age or magazine size bags fit and looked good on the HC's.

I'd rather have the jacket be the exact size or a little smaller than the book.

I have many books where the jacket is too long and the corners look like crap.

No matter which way you cut it, the corners are going to look like crap. If the jacket is too small, the hardcover itself wears! So really, I shouldn't even worry about it - the book is going to get wear and tear no matter what!
