Do you guys think that maybe it's because of the lack of sending in?

No, it really sucks to find a nice enough copy. The black cover and the chipping at the spine...it's all bad. I've never seen a quantity of this book either. I'm sure stashes exist but I haven't seen one in my experience.dbostejano wrote:*SQUEE* wrote:Yep. One of the last books I needed to finish my set. I need a 9.8 too. I have a couple candidates I will be sending in soon, but they could just as easily come back ungraded.

I'm not working on a complete Pre Unity CGC 9.8 set, just a Rai CGC set. So far I have the other ones.gavster wrote:Good luck you'll need it. A lot of CGC nuts need this one as well.dbostejano wrote:I need a Rai 5 in CGC 9.8

Yeah, the last Rai #5 CGC 9.8 that came up on Ebay was sold by Showcase New England and I think it went for about $400-$500 which is a record for that slab. I'm not saying its the norm but its really hard to find and comes up once in a blue moon.dbostejano wrote:I'm not working on a complete Pre Unity CGC 9.8 set, just a Rai CGC set. That's true in total counts, but they're about the same in percentages.gavster wrote:Rai #4 CGC 9.8 is more common than #5.Punisher Fan wrote:Any luck yet? I have been looking for RAI 4 & 5 in 9.8 (I need both also) all over the internet, including web sites listed in Overstreet etc.
No luck. If you find more then one, please give me a PM. I will do the same.
16% of Rai #4's graded are CGC 9.8, 15% of Rai #5's graded are CGC 9.8.
By comparison, Rai #3 is 44% CGC 9.8, Rai #2 is 39% CGC 9.8.

You would probably have more luck if you just bought a few raw copies and sent them in!
May even wind up being cheaper too!

I wish I could see one in hand and be able to tell what exactly a 9.8 looks like, that way I know whether to waste money on a couple raws that I have, they look nice to me but Im no CGC grader.ckb wrote:If it were only that easy...nutflush76 wrote:Yeah but there are only 10 TOTAL Rai 9.8sgreg wrote:That's true in total counts, but they're about the same in percentages.gavster wrote:Rai #4 CGC 9.8 is more common than #5.Punisher Fan wrote:Any luck yet? You really can't tell inside the case anyway. It's very hard to see subtle surface wear and breaks in the gloss inside the case.dbostejano wrote:I wish I could see one in hand and be able to tell what exactly a 9.8 looks like, that way I know whether to waste money on a couple raws that I have, they look nice to me but Im no CGC grader.ckb wrote:If it were only that easy...nutflush76 wrote:Yeah but there are only 10 TOTAL Rai 9.8sgreg wrote:That's true in total counts, but they're about the same in percentages.gavster wrote:Rai #4 CGC 9.8 is more common than #5.Punisher Fan wrote:Any luck yet? You are welcome to send the Rai 5's to me and I will look them over and submit them with a pre-screen if I think they have a shot.

Define "quantity"... I have about 15 or 20.ckb wrote:I've never seen a quantity of this book either. I'm sure stashes exist but I haven't seen one in my experience.

Nothing better than a 9.2, most below 9.0.

Some people spend their whole lives believing in fairy tales, usually because they don't want to give up the fabulous prizes.

That's more that I've ever seen in one place...but you've put those together from far and wide, correct? I'm talking about an old dealer stock or from an original collection, where the chance of a high grade book is better.slym2none wrote:Define "quantity"...
