my daughter came home from school yesterday all excited about this website the high school is promoting called freerice.com
i don't know much about it, except to say that it looks really cool, and i know that many of you here on the boards have a heart for giving-so i thought i'd pass it on.

there are many catagories for you to test your knowledge-vocab, math geography etc...and for every right answer 20 grains of rice is donated. the site says that sponsors pay for the rice-so you don't even have to send money anywhere, or give a credit card.

so if the boards are slow, and you've got the time, why not check it out and feed somebody in the process.

oh, one more thing, there is no penalty for wrong answers, so don't worry that your ignorance might result in food being taken away from some poor child!

Didn't notice the levels. Gotta look out for that next time. I will have my kids practice their multiplication tables with this site. Vocabulary was many Latin words which worked well for me. Also tried capitals and French.

Great site.

i haven't looked everywhere at it either-but i saw lots and lots of topics.

i think it's great for kids as magnusr just mentioned-they get all excited about helping people-and don't realize that they're studying while having fun!

Sorry, talked about the English vocabulary. I meant to say that the vocabulary section was easier for me than it could have been because I know some French and therefore recognize many words with Latin origin. Even found a pure Swedish word which probably is difficult for you. That helped me to reach level 36 (wanted to beat you  ).

i knew that! can i go back?!? :D
