and the question still stands...what exactly will that intern be working on?

By the by...I just got in the latest list of exhibitors for SDCC and I don't see VEI anywhere on the current list. :?

Can't say I'm surprised. I'm beginning to wonder if we'll see anything from them this year.

I had thought at the very least, they would be pimping what they already have. I'm a little disappointed.

You, me and a lot of people. I would hope those people also include Dino & Crew.

IMO, they needed a booth at SDCC, even just for the HC.

I know I'll get creamed for this, but this seems SO MUCH like the last days of Acclaim and some of the lack of marketing.

I think so too. I still can't believe they didn't show up at the NY Con.

You know, just a small booth. Showing the HCs, pimping the website. That's all.

Yeah, anything is better than not showing up.

hopefully the silence means they are working hard and keeping everything underwraps because the next thing is what we all hope for NEW BOOKS!

Maybe the interns job would be to actually update the fans on what the hell is going on

It could be the intern is there to fetch coffee while they take another break from taking another break. That's the typical life of an intern

That's what's so disturbing. I mean, it's been a long time since I've been to a Con of any substantial size, and I underrstand the booth space at SDCC may be expensive, but considering then names and the small press and the artist's alley people I'm already seeing signed up, I can't imagine VEI not having some sort of draw considering they already have ESTABLISHED PRODUCT!

If the poor *SQUEE* pimping his first title featuring an unknown cast through a small press publisher takes the time to try it, why can't a publisher with 3 nice hardcovers featuring established characters show up?

I thought the very idea of some of these Cons was to actually get people excited about your upcoming product. Dan Didio won't be there to talk about 52 or Countdown, he's going to all about Balckest Night (to use DC as my example).

If VEI was actually producing new product, they may want to start giving people an advance look. I think it speaks volumes that they are not showing up at all. Perhaps they don't have anything but the three hardcovers to feature, and if they are not confident to show up and sell even those....well, that concerns me.

It's also odd that they can't even bother updating their own site anymore. There is barely a mention of the last HC.

I'm curious as to what they are doing to make money? They must have some overhead. I can almost guarantee that they made no money off the HC. At $25 a pop they most likely broke even.

So what are they doing to make money? I doubt that with the current state of the economy that banks will lend them any money.

Did they give up? How are they making a living?? Did they get enough operating capital from licencing the rights of Harbinger?

Well, we never knew how much Kothari and the Shamdasanis were worth before buying the VALIANT rights... maybe they are worth enough to sit on it (Fonzie.)

:?

I admit, some sort of info would be great... something, anything.

Well, they are advertising for an intern, so I assume that must mean they have something in the works.

Well they must not be making any money because they are advertising for an intern to work for FREE!

The whole thing seems a little odd when you look at the duties the intern would have:

helping to develop marketing campaigns

recommendations for new comic products

Why does an intern get such important responsibilites and why would anyone who is actually earning a salary listen to someone who is working for free?? I know I wouldn't!

and this ...

"take part in the process of developing comics with the industry's top talent"

Who exactly is this "Top Talent"?

Maybe they are throwing that bit out there to capitalize on the fact that they've worked with Shooter.
