Unity Trades, X-O Cover and Dark Con Set

Post by Snakemann »

Well my intention was to never part with these but, the best of intentions...
For your drooling pleasure I am going to part with the following which includes shipping and insurance (even outside the US):

$175 Unity Trade #1 never read and in NM to Mint condition. I was holding on to this for the day that CGC grades them.

$175 Unity Trade #2 never read and shrink wrapped. In NM - Mint. I was holding on to this for the day that CGC grades them.

$50 Unity Red in NM

$75 Shadowman vol3 #1-6 NM

$75 Harbinger #1-7 NM with coupons

$50 Dark Adventure Con '92 regular set (Original Envelope and mylar sleeve, certificate and program, all four prints are the black and white versions - one should have been colored and one has the signatures.

$400 X-O #2 cover recreation by Bob Layton. I had this commisioned in 2004 and wow did this come out spot on. I figured that I would never get to own the original with Barry Windsor Smith doing the original pencils. So, I asked Bob Layton how he felt about remaking it as he did work on the original with BWS. Bob Layton had a good time doing this one and I have quite the email trail from him. It is featured on his site in the June 2004 gallery:

I can provide pictures of the items. The picture of the X-O cover is the photocopy (that Bob Layton made) of the orginal from Bob Layton's site. He actually emailed me this pic to say, "this is how it came out." I can send pics of the original and it looks much better. If your not happy with any of these items for any reason, I would do a full refund. I have been a Valiant collector from day one. Bought all the Valiants new as they came out. I know it is not the best time to sell but, it is the best time to buy. So, I am buying a new building and moving my business. Now I will go figure out how to post some pictures.

Wow, Layton does BWS almost as good as BWS does!

On the Unity TPB #2, can you tell me a bit more about the "shrinkwrapped" part? Do you have a picture?

Shucks. Congrats to the lucky buyer.

I wanted to figure out whether that shrinkwrap job was the way they were given out or if it was done after. I'm thinking after since we've (I've) never seen on wrapped before.

The other possiblity is that the wrapped one is unsigned. Meaning they came wrapped from the printer but were unwrapped to get the signitures. Not sure that makes sense either, because the signiture page appears to have been bound-in -- meaning the page was signed before the binding was done.

Anyone have any ideas?

I'm almost certain it was bound signed, one mine the signature falls into the gutter.

Thats a good theory on the pre-signed, however the condition makes me believe it was wrapped by a LCS.

Unity Trades

These have been the only Unity Trades I have owned or had in my hands. This is the only one I have seen shrinkwrapped. They were definitely signed before binding.
