CGC
Hi all...
Long time lurker, first time poster...lol
Hey...there has been a lot of talk here about CGC turnaround time. Well guess what? I think they caught up. I send off to them every two weeks and sometimes just monthly. I recieved 3 packages from them within 1 week.
I sent a package on 10/29/04 and got it today 12/06/04.
For those curious... I got a Rai #4 9.6, Shadowman #1 9.6, Shadowman #0 Gold 9.8, Magnus #0 9.8 and a Rai #0 9.8 (which I have one eyebrow raised at. I was expecting a 10. When I sent her off she was absolutely perfect. Nicest valiant copy I've ever seen, but know it a a few no break in color stress spine marks on the back...that I know were not there before. Why would I waste the money to send in a rai 0 if it were not perfect? lol)
Anyway...thought I'd say hi and give a heads up on the CGC situation.

Just for the edification of those that would like to know, and those who don't know...a book can NEVER attain the vaulted status of CGC GEM MINT 10.0 unless it was handled with gloves out of the box

I have got to get me one of those thick burgers...I actually said that I wanted to eat at hardee's the other day and my Fianacee(sp? I am going to have to look into that) said "You are not getting one of those burgers." I think that she saw it on tv or something and knew exactly what I was thinking...man I might have to sneak one...There is a picture on yahoo with 2 of those things sitting side by side...now that is an impressive picture...and of course there is a salad in the background...you know for a well rounded meal...depluto wrote:That reminds of that kid in Jimmy Neutron who had the toy that was "highly collectible" because it had never been seen by human eyes.

I've seen your activity from time-to-time on Ebay in the Valiant auctions...
So... are you a Valiant collector, dealer, or both?

Peter, you seem to be knowledgeable with CGC procedures. Can you give us a run down on how they inspect a comic & what we should do when pre-screening CGC candidates?
If you can, please start it as a new topic so we don't hijack this thread.

1st off I'd like to thank you for your knowledge and time that has been dedicated to Valiant. Thanks for sharing. I'll give my "story" like everyone else does on the General Board.
I am a huge Valiant fan and mainly collect, occasionally sell, but def. not a dealer.
Also for the other boards...I have a lot of questions...that might have been answered already, but I'd really like to know.

WOW, that would be an extensive post my man, replete with many difficulties regarding the grading process in general
