Invincible
Just read this entire series ... holy *SQUEE* what a great comic!
Now ... I must collect them. Any tips on the best way to find these cheap (as possible)? Anything I should keep an eye out for?

I always figured you'd like this series. What the hell took you so long?depluto wrote:Just read this entire series ... holy *SQUEE* what a great comic!
You can still piece them together reasonably. #1 is going to be the trickiest to find cheap. #10-13 are tougher to find, but you can still get them fairly cheap.depluto wrote:Now ... A set of 1-34 just sold for $455, but I've seen full sets into the 70s go for less than $300.
Just keep your eyes peeled. Sometimes the books slip under the radar.

I never see them at conventions. Anything above #17 you may still have a shot at finding in back issue bins and even $1 boxes.depluto wrote:Looking at ebay, there are a lot of early issues surprisingly cheap. I might try to pick up lots of later issues and just lowball the first few.

Do these things tend to go for a lot at conventions?

Yep. I agree. I've pieced together a few sets over the last few years. It's getting tougher to do, but still doable.depluto wrote:That seems like a lot ... it looks like you could piece it together a lot cheaper by buying singles of the early ones.400yrs wrote:On #1, there's a Larry's Variant as well. That one goes for alot less than the regular #1.
Looks like a complete set into the 70s just sold for $560 shipped yesterday.
With alot of patience, I'd figure you can do it for about $250-350:
#1 $60-75
#2-10 $10-15
11, 12 $15-25
13-14 $8-10
15-20 $2-5
21 and up for $1-2

After disregarding this book based on picking up issue #1 (really!) when it launched, I later tried it via the Ultimate Collection vol. 1 on a whim - and I have been onboard reading it in that format ever since.
UC 6 is awaiting reading and is something I really, really look forwards to. It is a great story and cast, with some storytelling techniques and tricks that I think we just don't see at DC or Marvel really, yet are not so radical to seem 'wrong' either. Great stuff.

OK, my first week of collecting these yielded a few results. I was outbid by a mile on some of the larger lots ... it actually looks cheaper to do this in small chunks. Grabbed a bunch cheep from a downtown LCS.
Here's what I got:
19, 23, 24, 26, 28-38, 40-47, 55, 61, 67-78.
About 35 books, total cost was around $70. It's a start.
