I thought the CBR article needed a new thread - it revealed so much new stuff.

In addition, I'm right.

Definitely some good hints in there of what is to come and it sounds great!

Items of note:

"...so we have a feeling that this incredible technology is built into the actual armor, rather than, perhaps, "sitting" on top of it." - This kind of reminds me of the end of The Iron Giant when he turns into a weapon. Well now we know that their are a lot of hidden things under each puzzle piece of armor.

"and yeah, he can shoot lasers from pulse ion cannons, but seeing him wielding his sword in action just seems so natural for a guy like him. Can't wait to see that!" ... that last line implies that she is not the interior artist as others on here have said

" I discussed General Maximus from "Gladiator," or William Wallace from "Braveheart," as characters that might have the same vibe" .... two of my favorite films so I love this idea.

"The sword is part of his culture, part of his time, and even if it manifests subconsciously..." --- really loving this idea!

I'll let the others here dissect some of the rest ... loving it so far.

Another part of the interview worth noting.

The suit looks like it has light sources at the waist and shoulder blades... maybe even above the eyes on the helmet.

Another nice interview. It's good to see VEI getting some respect from the press.

Featuring the likes of X-O, Bloodshot, and Harbinger. I wonder if there' s even more of the landmark Valiant characters in the FCBD issue.

Makes me wonder if the FCBD book is going to be along the lines of a Rai 0... :hm:

Well I assume that spider-aliens are in the mix or else there is a new origin that 1) accounts for the lost 1600 years or 2) the suit itself.

"In a few weeks we'll announce the (writing and art) team"

"some of (Aric's) actions are going to have incredible repercussions on the Valiant U, even if he isn't cognizant that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. And sometimes those reactions have big, nasty claws."

Figured the new X-O artwork might be fun as a stained glass window. :D

Maybe, but I didn't have an iPhone when Ninjak was going on. This one makes a nice lock screen. :D

Am I the only one that really doesn't like this "modern" (read: video game) look?

At first I didn't either, but then it grew on me.

still has yet to grow on me... it's.. ok. i'm am not a fan of the shoulder pads. i like the way the plates interlock and i'm glad they kept the fiber yellow skin. i've never been a fan of the XO helmet since 1992 but he was a great character so i over looked the "look". I'm hopin it grows on me but in the end it dosent matter what characters look like as long as valiant stays true to the storytelling and universe continuity we all fell in love with. case in point: you dont see IMAGE message boards doing what we do here for as long as we did even when the universe was dead. because it went farrrr beyond the look. adding certain artists sometimes (BWS, Quesada etc...) only added more icing on an already stacked cake.

but yeah slym i'm with you overall

The pairing of X-O and this art style does strike me as odd. Definitely not what I would have thought to go with.

I hope the interiors don't match up too closely to the cover.
