Collector points (slow, calculating everything each time it's loaded):
http://www.valiantfan.com/valiant/collectorpoints.asp" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Manage (or start) your collection ONLINE (no more data extracts and emails):
http://www.valiantfan.com/valiant/manag ... select.asp" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I wrote the code this weekend, and I'm sure there are bugs, but I've done some testing and I think it's ready for you to do some testing.

Enjoy! :thumb:

This should be fun. Is this for the new Valiants too? Maybe you should wait a bit for that, I suppose, though I think it would be cool to track collectiojs of the new books early on. if it doesn't cover the new books, I'm sure someone will start a hoard thread for the new books, in any event.
Valiant is the son of the New Universe.

Interesting thought. How many people consider Dark Key part of the Valiant universe since they are mostly old Valiant characters and launched by Shooter? I think I do in the broadest sense, but I like to think the new Valiant will be much better. :D

They aren't even old Valiant as they were Gold Key before. I say no because they have no tie-ins to Valiant now, the old Gold Key titles were purposely worked in Valiant continuity as this version totally ignores it.

Just discussing in the broadest sense.

Gold Key proper was on the original list of comics - even though not 'Valiant,' so I thought this might be helpful, too. I'm sure many/most of us picked up the line, and certainly with Shooter writing, it was probably more of Valiant than Gold Key was.

But also as I mentioned the old Gold Key was incorporated into current continuity and sorry just because Shooter wrote it doesn't mean squat. If you want to add all of the Valiant-Theme stories Shooter wrote then you need to add Broadway - Defiant - and the original Valiant Themed New Universe from Marvel.

In fact if you look back all of Shooter's universes follow the same line as began with the New Universe when he was EIC at Marvel. All those universes follow the same theme as well as with Dark Key, but there is no need to include them as well.

Dark Horse shat all over the Gold Key characters and I for one cannot support a company or anything they publish that just totally misuse a viable piece of comic history like they did. No matter who was involved.

cool. I never realized I had 320 Valiant Back issues, not as many as others here, but enough to be a true hardcore Valiant Fan I imagine.

Originally (that is, in the late-1990s), I wasn't going to include Acclaim on my website. Acclaim was still alive and they weren't "Valiant", so I wanted them to do their own promoting.
Now that Acclaim is long gone, and VEI has acquired Acclaim's copyrights and trademarks, it's easier to say that Valiant and Acclaim are more closely related.
VEI hasn't ruled out the return of some of the Acclaim properties because they said they will keep/use the best concepts in their arsenal.

I plan to enhance the inventories program, but my current priorities are:
- add new books as they come out
- add the cover date or year to the book name
- notations about the categor(ies) for each book (regular, variant, reprint, pre-unity, unity, acclaim, etc.)
- determine if we want/need a way to store grade/condition, and if so, what about multiple copies, what about slabbed books?
- determine if the Dell/GoldKey/Nintendo/WWF books need to be added (even if there are no guide values for points)

So, long story short, I don't have any plans to add Dark Horse (Dark-Key) books because they aren't Valiant or Valiant/Acclaim-related stories.
I haven't ruled out the possibility of adding Dark-Key later, but I would say Dell/GoldKey and non-hero Valiant will be ahead of them in priority.

Plus, I'm still concerned that the code isn't perfect and it may need some significant bugs fixed.

Fair enough. AND HUMBLE THANKS!

Need any help with anything?

IE - organization or cover art for the Dark Key section added? I think that if the Gold Key and Nintendo covers are up there, it could be argued for its conclusion...

NOT complaining. Or re-directing. Just thinking out loud.

I think of Dark Key as part of the Valiant apocrypha, alongside Defiant, Broadway, the original Gold Key 3, the Magnus iBooks book, the VIP trAshcan, the non-Valiant Acclaim books, Windjammer, Armada and the epic title Coyote. The Nintendo and WWF books and the odd pre-superhero Valiant publications like Kenny Kid and Hip Hop, Cheeseasaurus Rex and the Adventures of the O would probably fit in this category too.

Acclaim has an odd status between that of Valiant and Valiant apocrypha.

I understand that they were Gold Key first. For me, though, they will always be Valiant characters. Especially when they were written by Shooter. Honestly, I don't really care if they are included, I just think it could go either way depending on your thinking.

The only thing I want to say about this is that your line of thinking is wrong. It's not just that Shooter wrote it that makes it possible to consider, but also the fact that these characters (mostly) were in the Valiant universe. The characters from Defiant, New Universe, Broadway, etc were not.

I will concede that they are based more on the Gold Key property, so if you would rather consider this a jump over Valiant you could do that. The question is, why did they hire Shooter to do it? I think they were hoping to recreate that Valiant feel and lure in Valiant fans. Otherwise maybe they would have tried to bring in Gold Key people (I don't know, are they even alive?).

I agree - to some extent.

I think that I saw Acclaim in that closest circle(with Quantum and Woody - but not Concrete Jungle or NIO), but Dark Key and Gold Key in the next closest circle. VIP I'd probably put a next step out, but non-Valiant Acclaim (WITH Concrete Jungle and NIO) in the next ring. Outside of there, I'd put Nintendo, WWF, etc.

But of course, all of it is up for debate. :thumb:
