I thought having Ditko working for Valiant at the time increased the books awareness rather than detract from it. He wasn't doing to much in comics at the time and I'm sure he wasn't that expensive to have working for them. Considering the art dynamic that was going on at the time in comics he was kind of an odd man out in art terms.

Huge Ditko fan myself so I loved his Valiant work - as I love all his work. And I'll take any opportunity to brag about having a Ditko signature. :thumb:
I would agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

Ditko's work is awesome. Solar 14 and 15 are on tonight's menu and I have them in front of me. Incredible work, very reminsicent of BWS in a way.

I don't have all of those issues. I have his work on Shadowman, Solar, Magnus, and Rai.

I am a huge fan of Ditko, but didn't think that his Shadowman brought the right tone to the book.

how did they get Steve Ditko to do stuff for Valiant in the first place?

it's well known that he's really reclusive.

Having just read Solar 14 and 15, I'd have to say that I really liked the artwork but it seemed to me more could have been done with the story; the end encounter with Bender could have had more to it. But I'm finding that true of much of the stuff that came out immediately after Unity.

But having also just read X-O #9, Mike Leeke's pencils are outstanding. Leeke may be one of my favorite Valiant artists.

Mixed feelings. Liked some but thought it was a bit too distintive in some panel pages.

How cool would it be to have a Valiant autographed by him?

Sadly I think that would be next to impossible

He is reclusive, but he is available for work on his terms. Alan Moore without the ego.
