A Good Day
Well X-O #1 was released today, so it seems like a good day to join this board and tell my story. I've been reading comics forever and I'm a big Marvel guy and sometimes DC person. In the early 90's I was only vaguely aware of Valiant and it took some word of mouth for me to leave the mainstream and try something new.
My first book was X-O #20. Unity had just happened and I was in the middle of this strange new universe and didn't know what was going on. It did seem interesting though. I liked Aric immidiatly though. Kind of a brash Thor with a cool Iron Man type armor, but different. I went on to Solar and Shadowman and I liked the fact that Valiant had it's own master villian in Master Darque. This whole universe was interesting and different than Marvel and DC. Valiant had built it's own universe, something Image was unable to do.
I kept buying and I liked The Visitor and I liked the idea of Secret Weapons. I thought an Avengers type Valiant comic would be fun, but I never thought it panned out that way. Soon enough, changes kept happening, some good and some, not so good. And then Valiant was just gone.
Thanks to ideas like this board, Valiant was kept alive. I really never thought that I would be picking up a new X-O #1 and that they would re-start the Valiant Universe. What did I know. I picked up X-O today and plan on reading it soon. I am excited to see this new universe and where it will take me. I thought Warren Simons was one of the better editors at Marvel, so I'm glad he's steering the ship.
The people on this board never lost the faith. You guys rule! Thanks for keeping Valiant alive in a different way. Valiant is back and I'm looking forward to it!

Hey, look! I have a podcast!
And a Website!

If I win an argument, it doesn't mean I'm right. It means I'm a better arguer.
In addition, I'm right.

So did you ever go back and get the pre-Unity and Unity stuff?

Re: A Good Day
Yes I did. Valiants were pretty pricey in the 90's, so it took awhile. Getting a lot of those early Valiants showed me what an interesting and different universe this was. I was hooked!jmatt wrote:Welcome!

Oh man, I hear ya. I have sooo many of those issues with the retailer's $30 pricetags on books that can be had for $6 today...riprap wrote:Yes I did.
