Physical Condition of the new Valiant Comics

Post by et061502 »

Is it just me or are a majority of the new Valiant books arriving at comic shops with bent spines and showing some other type of distress? I usually am not too picky about the shape my comics are when I go to my LCS to pick them up but it seems to me that they all have been showing signs of spine stress. I brought the issue up to my retailer and he mentioned to me that a lot of the Valiant comics he receives do show up with some sort of damage out of the box. Anyone else see the same thing happening where they are or is it just a problem due to the long shipping distance from the distributor to the west coast?

This has been discussed several times.. The problems are with the printers and distribution networks to the LCS.

The printers actually have improved quite a bit since the relaunch, but Diamond and the cover stock of the books are just not of great durable quality.

If you were to purchase a Copy of X-O Manowar #1 Ribic, you can try to be as carefull in reading these books at home, but when you are done reading it 3-4 times, the books will already be a few points lower.

I know it's been discussed before but I thought the last 2 weeks lot were in much worse condition than anything I'd seen before at my local store (obviously thats only 1 example). Another concern is that my Forbidden Planet "Mega Store" has decided it's only ordering Valiant for pre-orders already, shameful considering they were selling out probably 20-30 issues off the shelf.

I knew I should have done a search for this very topic, but I believe the discussion should be brought up again and especially brought to the attention of the distributors and Valiant. If the companies want to keep selling books, then they should care about the quality of the comics the customers receive in the end.

Any idea why they decided to go with pre-orders only on the new Valiant books?
Valiant is the son of the New Universe.
