I dug for a for a few pages to find a thread specific for the book, as a whole and couldn't find one.

So I just got caught up. Read 20-103 in about 2 days. Holy *SQUEE*. This book.

I'd have people for years tell me I need to check it out and was always "ho hum, a zombie book. who cares"

Damn, Kirkman is seriously one crazy psychopath. It was like this really long, slow car crash and I just couldn't stop reading.

Unfortunately I was spoiled about what happend in #100 but it still made me pause and I still was stunned and in shock.

Not nearly as bad as #48. That one, I nearly stopped reading after.

Welcome aboard. If you haven't read Invincible, you should. It's actually his better book.

okay, I can see that but

The death that hit me the hardest was Lori and Judy. Like a ton of bricks.

I checked out the first Invincible trade and it just didn't click for me. Then again I read the first 3 or 4 trades of TWD and it was interesting, if only because I'd watched the first season and a half of the show first and was intrigued by the differences.

It wasn't until half way through #28 that I was hooked.

You really need to try Invincible up to around #12 before you give up on it. If you're not a fan by then, it's pretty safe to then say it isn't your cup of tea. Other than all the Valiant books, Invincible & TWD are the only comics I simply could not live without reading every month.

And I'm with Elveen - after I read that issue of TWD my palms were sweating and my heart was literally pounding in my chest. I remember reading it on a lunch break at work, and I had to leave the room and avoid talking to people for about 10 minutes or so to process it a bit.

The first issue that was my OMG moment in TWD was the end of issue 6. Then again in issue 33.

But Walking Dead goes down the valley and back up the same mountain, Invincible goes across country 'percy'.

I think the walking dead needs another issue 48, and I want Negan and Rick to battle to their (brutal) deaths. As much as he's been a part of TWD I think it's time for someone else to step up.

Last month I finally started reading this, just before the 3rd season began. It took me 3 or 4 days, but I could not stop until there was nothing more to read (stopped at issue 102).

One of the most compelling stories I've read, comic or not. The "Made to Suffer" TPB had me pick up my jaw several times. :!:

I read both the first and second compendium and have all of the single issues from where the last series left off. I had read issue 9 once (I got it for $.50 at a comic shop going out of business. They had a TON of issues around 5-10 left I wish I would have had the foresight to buy them all!) and I didn't like it too much. This series is definitely better suited to long-term reading! I read the second compendium in like 2 days!

Agreed! I haven't re-read the series from the start since it was at around #50... I think I may have to sit down and read it all at once again soon.

Well I finally decided to bite the bullet and read the series. Holy *SQUEE* this is the best comic book series I have read. Got up to 60 in a day and a half. I just love this book. My wife is actually on 40! She wants me to stop and wait for her to catch up but I can't stop reading. It's gonna suck when I have to wait a month like you guys do for a new book.

Tyreese's death didn't surprise me...figured he was a goner, Lori and Judy's death surprised me the most

Michonne is by far and away my favorite character. I wasn't sure if I would like it as much after 50 because of the change but I like it maybe even more.

Awesome!

I'm still trying to get my wife to read it or watch the show but she can't get past the zombies.

My wife loves the show but refuses to read the book. She claims she wants to wait until a time when maybe the show gets cancelled and the only way to get into some new TWD is via the comic. Not a bad idea, and I commend her for her discipline, if she can stand to wait that long

On another note, my mom loves the show too, and she has always absolutely been petrified of anything horror-genre related! I still can't believe we got her hooked on it! :o

I'm pretty much done after the whole introduction of Negan. Just not my thing and particularly as I'm starting to detect a strain of thought from Kirkman that I find rather odious..

I couldn't believe it. I started to get on her nerves asking "how do you like it so far? What's you favorite book so far? Who's your favorite character? ", etc so I had to cool off. We just started watching is on TV and she will probably finish the books by the end of the week...she stayed up unit 2 am this past Saturday reading :cloud9: . She did state that her reading a comic book was an anomaly but she respects my hobby just a little bit more now! :thumb:

I have the first 2 omnibus editions of both Walking Dead and Invincible. Both are excellent though I like Walking Dead much more personally just because I am a horror fan. I'm not of the quality level of either series after that point, but I assume it stays fairly high since Kirkman seems to be an amazing and versatile writer.

I'm kinda on board. #100 kind of capped it for me, since then I haven't much cared about any of the issues, so I am going to give it a hiatus and maybe revisit in a few years. In the meantime, I have started re-reading.

Interesting, I wonder how Ezequiel and his Tiger are going to fit into all of this long-term?
