Your Pull List?
I read this in another thread, and it's something I've been wondering about for some time now: I only pick up 3 titles a month, although that's up to six this month with the last part of Harbinger Wars, Quantum and Woody and Ten Grand (for the duration of its run anyway). Once HW and TG have finished I'll be down to 4 regulars, and I've been wondering how 'normal' my pull list is. Then I read that VEI Reborn is reading 60 titles a month and thought "Blimey, is that what most comic book fans are reading or is that just a bit rare and the real average is lower?" So I decided to start this thread to get an idea about thingsGGSAE wrote:Wow that's some serious pull-list cake! Your LCS must jizz their pants when you walk in the door!VEI Reborn wrote: I read about 60 titles a month and Im not sure where this is coming from because VEI is putting out some of the best stuff out there right now. There are some VERY good Image titles but 95% of Marvel and DC is pure crap. [no offense to those that disagree]

So, what's in your pull list?
As I said, generally mine is:
Shadowman
Bloodshot
Harbinger
I'm also pulling Harbinger Wars this final month and Ten Grand for as long as it lasts (being a short series), and am adding Quantum and Woody to the pullbox this month too.

Re: Your Pull List?
By mail subscription, I get Avengers and Iron Man.
As a general rule, I try to limit my pull list to 5-6 books. So, along with Daredevil, I recently overhauled my pull list to include Harbinger, Bloodshot, A+A, X-O Manowar, and Harbinger Wars. I plan on adding Eternal Warrior when it's released.

Re: Your Pull List?
In order of most enjoyed to least enjoyed:
1. The Manhattan Projects
2. Harbinger
3. Chew
4. Bloodshot
5. Revival
6. Archer and Armstrong (much higher than the last time I made this list)
7. East of West
8. X-O Manowar
9. New Avengers
10. Avengers
11. Shadowman
Also on my pull list but not ranked for some reason:
Invincible (not caught up to current issues)
Harbinger Wars (series is over this month)
Quantum and Woody (haven't read it yet)
I'm pretty sure I'm going to collect Revival in HC (if they make them). It just feels right to have it in big chunks in a nice format.
I think I'm at my tipping point for subs. If VEI grows much more, I'm going to have to start cutting books or going to trades (or HC preferably - I just hate the feel of a TPB) or purely digital. Sadly, I may cut some VEI monthlies (I'm sure I'll still get them in digital on sale if I drop any books). Something tells me I won't stick with Quantum and Woody, but I'm giving it a chance.

If your pull list is soon to include 5 VEI books out of your preferred 5/6 books, that *has* to show that the company is doing something right!String wrote:By mail subscription, I get Avengers and Iron Man.

How about you do the same as String and get all your Valiant monthlies and cut everything else down to digital and TPBs?! (Jokelorddunlow wrote:I think I'm at my tipping point for subs. If VEI grows much more, I'm going to have to start cutting books or going to trades...

So what is it about TPBs that you hate then? Is it the floppiness of the book? Am I right in guessing you're a 'binder'?

Re: Your Pull List?
My pull list has dropped from 25 or so a year ago down to 3. About half of that is due to switching to trade-waiting (and/or hardcover waiting), but the rest I just lost interest in. There are a few more I probably would get monthly, except that I got into them late with trades and figure I'll just stick with that.
I'm going to look back at last year's orders and see what the breakdown is exactly...just because I'm curious.
EDIT: A big chunk of what I dropped was all of the Bat titles after the Owls crossover, a couple of other New 52 titles that had run out of steam, and several random titles I also lost interest in. The rest I still get in trades/hc.
So I guess my "pull list" of monthly comics that I don't actually get monthly would be:
Saga
Walking Dead
Invincible
Fatale
Mind Mgmt
Manhattan Projects
Massive
Revival
X-O
Shadowman
A&A
Harbinger
Bloodshot
Batwoman
Batman
Batman & Robin
Hawkeye
Powers
And a few newer series whose first TPBs are coming soon may get added to that, like East of West and the other Valiant stuff of course.

Young Avengers
Swamp Thing

I think that's it right now dropped a bunch of Marvel and DC books when I realized I wasn't even reading them just throwing them in the to read pile and consistently passing them over.

Re: Your Pull List?
Wow, there are some pretty stark differences in the quantities that people are pulling! That's very interesting
But it looks like generally people are pulling a lot of the same things at the moment, like Manhattan Projects, Invincible, Saga... So I guess it's easy to see where the quality is at the moment. But it's nice to see people pulling a few more uncommon (according the people's listings here in the thread, I know they're still pretty mainstream) things as well, like Ten Grand, Swamp Thing, The Shadow...
I'm still looking forward to picking up my little stack in a few days time and checking out Quantum and Woody for the first time... I really hope that it's a very funny comic!

You mean the new 'Question and Answer' section in the back of the book? I meant that I was hoping the comic itself would be funny!GGSAE wrote:I really enjoyed Q&A! Seriously though, now I think about it, I think a 'Quantum and Answer' page in the back of the comics could be really funny! Like where real readers send in questions, and the character Quantum answers them himself, complete with interjections and quips from Woody and the Goat...

What I find odd is that, for the hype and hoopla over The Walking Dead, Kirkman's first title, Invincible, is still going just as strong.

Zero.
I just shadow comic forums out of habit.
I pick up bits & pieces, depending on the creative team.
NOTHING from any current team that hasn't been in the industry for 30 years or more TBH.
I picked up that IM 258 mini from Micheline/Layton, still need the last issue though.
I picked up that OX trade (the new). Only thing that appealed to me wa the Ninjak concept.
