OMG I loved this issue. I was laughing the entire time I was reading it. So much so that I can't even remember my favorite line...though it might be "I'm a *SQUEE* superhero, *SQUEE*!"

Woody asking Quantum to help him save the sexy clone? Quantum worrying his defeat of the Russian was a hate crime? The Goat? Totally f-ing hilarious! And yet Asmus still manages to hit some touching family moments.

This book has so much potential it's insane. People need to be reading this. Hopefully the Guillory variant will draw in some Chew fans, because I think those readers would love this book.

A good book, in my Holland opinion.

Nothing funnier than the black-face in the last issue, but still damn funny.

Loved the degenerating word-bubbles, what an awesome little touch.

This was the better of the two offerings for me. Asmus did a good job of telling a lot of story (seemed like a longer read again, despite having seen the preview), injecting the right amount of humor and balancing it with some character development through flashbacks.

I loved the goat and the reaction to its being on the loose. Kind of a Monty Python "Holy Grail" nod to the bunny rabbit (It's got fangs! Run away!).

Overall enjoyable read. I tend to lean more towards the dramatic titles like Harbinger, but this book continues to surprise me with its charm.

My brother who reads Valiant comics brings up a valid point... did E.R.A try to attack P.R.S. or Harada yet? BTW great read

LOVED. THIS. ISSUE.

If i'm not smiling while i'm reading ... i'm laughing my head off

its such a well written, charming, joy to read

Asmus is an incredible writer who did an amazing job of building up these characters within a pretty intense story plot and allowed the humor to come through naturally from the charm of his well defined characters. And Fowlers art works perfectly with Asmus's style - perfect expressions and every page is consistently well drawn.

its such a SHAME that this is Fowler's last issue. Please Valiant bring him back!! He needs to be the long term regular artists for this comic! :(

overall .... 9/10

This opening arc is up there as one of my favorites right up there with Renegades and Far Faraway.

couldn't have asked for a better way to start this title.

10/10 - a great opening arc.

Looking forward for what's next.

Making this issue even better - I got the 8-bit cover :-)

Not a fan of this issue. It was just TOO goofy and jumbled for my tastes. Love the introduction of the goat. Everything was just resolved too neatly. Would have liked to see them escape the crone, and leave ERa looming out there. Wasn't a total disaster, but a notch or two below the first 3 issues.

I have a feeling that Woody is James Asmus' id. Yes, that's not a typo. Woody is everything James Asmus wishes he could be, just doing whatever he wants, cocky, never feeling any repricussions for his actions, etc. This is the impression I got after meeting James, talking with him, hearing his interviews. Funny guy, much like Woody, IMO. Could I be right, Mr. Asmus? Chime in?

Loved the issue, but was confused at the last page. Was the female detective from the first couple of issues on the boat with Q&W? Was that her? That left me confused. Otherwise, entertaining, funny, awesome action. Great book, great arc, and yes, sad to see Tom Fowler leave, as I thought his art really makes this book shine bright!

The 'hot' clone!

Great issue, great characterization, great fun & humour - this comic continues to be a delight. Highlights for me;

everything about the goat!!

'I'ma mawstew wace!'

The 'YOLO' sticker on the back of The Crone's oddball vehicle

Every single page of Tom Fowler's work - gonna miss it a lot. I'm still hopeful that he'll be back for another arc in the future.

Really dug that too - I love seeing clever ideas in manipulating word balloons to enhance the effect of the reading experience. :thumb: :thumb:

There were too many great lines to quote, but my favorite was probably the sticky note

"Do we need a self-destruct button? - Discuss at next meeting?"

This book was hilarious, 'nuff said. Also a very nice touching conclusion to the whole back story of Woody running away. The art again absolutely top notch. It was mentioned that this was Fowler's last book...I seriously hope not, that dude's a mad talent.

There were a lot of nay sayers about this book when it was announced but I actually think it's just as, if not funnier, than the original Q&W. Also, super goat? Hell yeah, he might actually be the most useful member of the team. Loved this issue, the whole first arc was masterfully done, and I can't wait for more.

Arc 1/Issue 4: 10/10 :thumb:

Also is it just me or does every valiant book now have a super secret organization that more often than not (with the exception of X-O's MI-6) tends to be evil?

GREAT NEWS: Fowler will be back!

Just got confirmation via twitter.

Image

I never read the original Q&W. I have been reading this and every other VEI book and I have to say that Q&W is now one of my favorites. It is such a fun ride and I love the chemistry between the two brothers. The ERA is now my favorite villain organization. I hope we see them again. Just because their island blew up doesn't mean they all died, right? Right?
