Image books
Other than VALIANT, and once Locke & Key wraps up, the only comics I still read are Image comics.
I currently read Saga, Chew and Manhattan Projects in trade. I also just ordered the first two trades of Revival. One of these days I'll get around to reading TWD, I swear.
There are various random threads about these books, and discussions in the "What comics are you reading" thread, but I thought I'd start a general thread to discuss Image books.
Any other series you would recommend? Thoughts on the current crop of Image titles?

Re: Image books
East of West is a MUST read.
As a comic seller the only books I'm keep in a no sell box are a run of VEI Valiants and a run of East of West.
I have TWD, Chew, and Saga on my pull list (along with Valiant and EoW). I read them and then put them in my sell boxes. EoW stays in the keep box. It is brilliant!
I'm just hoping that it stays on time and goes 60 issues.
It is great!

Heard nothing but good things about EoW. That will probably be next on my list.

Re: Image books
When I started back with Valiant relaunch, I told myself not to get swept back in. Saga, MP , EoW , X-files and now Sandman later... I was of fan of X-titles back in the day, but there's so much now , even with the NOW relaunches I just felt overwhelmed to have to buy 20 books to know what's going on. A lot of the Image titles are nice self contained stories that for the most part only involve getting the tpbs of the books you missed.

Re: Image books
That's why I started with them. I tried the New 52 when it launched and was quickly disappointed. This was after Marvel cancelled every single title I was getting from them and basically said *SQUEE* off to them (though they have dragged me back with Hawkeye and Young Avengers).mero19 wrote:When I started back with Valiant relaunch, I told myself not to get swept back in. Between the rave reviews and the accessibility, Image was an easy choice to round out my reading.

Most of the non-Valiant books on my pull are Image. Plus the Hickman Marvel books. If you can cancel your Revival TPBs, you should get the deluxe HC that comes out soon. I just preordered mine on Amazon.

It was cheaper to get the 2 trades. I just read them, not into collecting them.lorddunlow wrote:Most of the non-Valiant books on my pull are Image. Plus the Hickman Marvel books. If you can cancel your Revival TPBs, you should get the deluxe HC that comes out soon. I just preordered mine on Amazon.

Re: Image books
I am reading quite a bit of Image as well. I am behind on Walking Dead I have all the issues but haven't read any since around 75. I read 1-75 in a marathon session over a 3 day weekend, so maybe I will do that again and get caught up. For me Image MUST READS are Think Tank from Matt Hawkins, this book is absolutely brilliant if you are into science, technology, politics or political history at all YOU MUST READ THIS BOOK, it get's my highest recommendation. Also I read Clone, a good solid sci-fi action series, Thief of Thieves, reminds me of the great Michael Mann movie HEAT, Morning Glories, Lost/X-Files type mysterious series and East of West is awesome like 'Veen mentioned.

Re: Image books
I've thought about getting into Morning Glories for a while because I hear those comparisons a lot. Lost and XFiles are two of my all time favorite TV shows. I also really enjoyed Spencer's THUNDER Agents.Jace wrote:I am read quite a bit of Image as well. I am quite behind on Walking Dead I have all the issues but haven't read any since around 75. Re: Image books
Was tempted on the Hickman Marvel stuff , but only being able to stick to 2 avengers titles, then Infinity , then GotG ...and so on. I've heard Think Tank is good but it's had 0 presence at my LCS and only read about a day ago.lorddunlow wrote:Most of the non-Valiant books on my pull are Image. Plus the Hickman Marvel books. Hickman's SHIELD series was pretty dope. I think that's all available in trade and pretty self contained.mero19 wrote:Was tempted on the Hickman Marvel stuff , but only being able to stick to 2 avengers titles, then Infinity , then GotG ...and so on. Re: Image books
The only books currently on my sub now are Invincible and Saga. Those are the only two comics that I still feel like I must read them when they come out.
As others mentioned, East of West is really good.
A few books no one has mentioned that I really enjoy are Peter Panzerfaust and Sheltered. Sheltered is a new book. Panzerfaust, I'd recommend getting in trades.

I have enjoyed GotG. It's like 80's pop music - it's just fun without being meaningful at all.

Re: Image books
While I love Matteo Scalera, his work is very cinematic and was amazing on Indestructible Hulk, the premise of the book just doesn't appeal to me. I can see how it would to some however. It seems very late 70's early 80's to me. Like something out of Heavy Metal in its heyday, interesting stuff just not my particular flavor of kool-aid.Brother Darque wrote:check out the artwork.BugsySig wrote:Sweet coverBrother Darque wrote:i'm looking forward to Black Science, which comes out this month.

I have PP and Todd: The Ugliest Kid of Earth.....I'm a few issues behind on each, but PP has been pretty decent overall.

I highly recommend Lazarus.
Velvet seems pretty good, although it's only 1 issue in so far.

The new Ten Grand with the new artist came out today. Lazarus and EoW are my two favorite titles I'm pulling right now. Saga was on that list but I think I'm going to start trade waiting on that. Sex Criminals is only 2 issues in, but they were both great.Intrepidxc wrote:My none valiant list is dominated by Image with one Marvel books. The image books I read regularly are:

Re: Image books
Picked up first 2 tpbs of Think Tank today, I forgot about Jupiter's Legacy as we'll , that I do like but it's release schedule is not very consistent.
