Valiant from March 2017 and beyond...
Dinesh has confirmed that BS will back (on this very forum) in March next year while today he posted a teaser image of the new XO. The FCBD 2016 issue had Shadowman 'coming' while Psi-Lords has also been teased (also in the 2016 FCBD issue). Red Legend is being spoken about as being an important new female lead around the Divinity event - given the airtime I have to think there is something in the pipeline to further build upon the character. And....Dinesh / Warren have tweeted #SecretWeapons in recent days too... could this all be leading to a revamped roster of books from March on-wards????

Re: Valiant from March 2017 and beyond...
I see 2017 as being the year that Valiant reintroduces all of its pillars at once: Bloodshot, X-O Manowar, Shadowman, Harbinger, and possibly Archer and Armstrong. Remember a while back when Dinesh and Warren kept saying they were waiting for the right time to expend past the 10 book limit? I think 2017 is the time, and that everything they've been planning starts now in earnest.
Red Brigade, Red Legend's team, looks like a new IP. They have a lot in common with Generation Zero. They were both introduced during a crossover event, and they both had a female member who received some time in the spotlight prior to the team receiving their own book, Animalia/Red Legend. Maybe they'll do something similar to how they handled Faith with Red Legend being a solo lead and a member of her own team.
Generation Zero
Harbinger
Imperium
Unity
Red Brigade
Secret Weapons
Valiant just went from having no real team books aside from Harbinger to having six.

I'll just put this out there, my random guess at 2017's lineup of books:
Ongoings:
XO
Bloodshot
Shadowman
Harbinger
Gen 0
Faith
Minis/Events/Story arcs:
Savage
Divinity: Stalinverse
Divinity: Red Brigade
Psi-Lords
Secret Weapons
And maybe a Q+W book. They've been off the shelf for a while, wouldn't be surprised to see 'em have a mini this year just to keep them in people's minds.

Basically Valiant went from having two superhero team in its original VH1 universe, Harbinger and Secret Weapons, to having six teams in the VEI universe. H.A.R.D. Corps, Armorines, and Psi-Lords weren't included because for now it looks like they're just supporting characters. Maybe I'm wrong though, and H.A.R.D Corps, Armorines, and Psi-Lords have their own series planned too. In that case bump the number up to 9 active major teams.
The Valiant Universe has grown a lot over the past two years.
Dinesh mentioned Quantum and Woody where returning soon, I think in an ongoing to tie in with the t.v. series. Unity was promised for a relaunch a while back. Maybe it has something to with Secret Weapons? Something similar to Bloodshot and the H.A.R.D Corps. Unity and Secret Weapons?

I didn't realise you were comparing VEI to 90's Valiant stuff, I thought we were talking about the current stuff.

I believe next year to celebrate the anniversary Valiant will be bringing back the OG big gun characters.
XO , Harby, bloodshot, shadowman, EW.
The "pillars" of the Valiant universe.

Yeah I can see how my wording was a little awkward.Shadowman99 wrote: I didn't realise you were comparing VEI to 90's Valiant stuff, I thought we were talking about the current stuff.
But as far as Unity and Imperium go, I think we'll see them again pretty soon. The way I see it is that 2017 is going to be about Valiant reestablishing the pillars: Harbinger, X-O Manowar, Bloodshot, Shadowman, and Archer & Armstrong. I'm willing to bet this is part of a plan to break their 10 book limit. Haringer Wars II would be a perfect opportunity to relaunch Imperium, and possibly Generation Zero (Some people think the first run will be ending at 12 issues).
I think by 2018, Valiant will double their monthly output.
- Harbinger
X-O Manowar
Bloodshot
Shadowman
Archer & Armstrong
Faith
Imperium
Unity
Generation Zero
Quantum and Woody
2018 will probably be even bigger for one reason alone: it'S the year that VEI officially outpublishes the original VH1 universe! That's a major milestone.

Re: Valiant from March 2017 and beyond...
Hm, I can't see Imperium returning myself. The series basically got cancelled because it lost readership (even though it was bloody brilliant!) so I can't see why VEI would look at the property financially and see it as a good property to put out there again, not to mention how after H:R the universe will have moved on anyway, and that'll no doubt influence Harada one way or another and move his plot forward as well. I dunno, could happen but if 'Imperium' does ever return to publication again the plot will have advanced, as I said above.
I could see Unity returning to the shelves again one day. Maybe with the same team or with any mixture of 'alternative members/totally new team'. We'll see I suppose.
I do wonder if VEI will be putting out more than 10 books next year. Don't really mind if they do, just so long as it's not so many that I can't afford to read the whole universe!

Re: Valiant from March 2017 and beyond...
I don't think Valiant will do 10 ongoing series at a time either. Not right now.
Imperium - I would have loved a few more issues back then but now I don't see it being continued anymore. Harada failed big time and like Shadowman99 said there already is a new direction (and main villain) in the Harbinger universe with HWARS2 being teased as the next big conflict. Perhaps it's even a good thing to give Toyo a break and introduce other mayor players and villains? We've already seen Peter vs. Toyo and Toyo vs. the rest of the world. It's time for something new.
I'm really missing Sunlight though!

I doubt if Imperium itself will return as a title, but Dysart had said in an interview that he was working on finishing up that storyline somehow. Maybe it would just be a mini series, or maybe some other title instead of a 2nd Imperium title.Shadowman99 wrote:Hm, I can't see Imperium returning myself. You're right. I doubt Imperium will be relaunched right now, but with Harbinger Wars II/Harbinger film happening it's going to give all the psiots themed books some exposure.Sunlight on Snow wrote: Imperium - I would have loved a few more issues back then but now I don't see it being continued anymore. A new status quo is part of the reason Imperium would work. A new direction for Harada's team would actually justify a relaunch.
We've seen Harada fight Peter, and we've seen him fight the world. But have we seen him fight Master Darque, have we seen what plans he has for AI research after creating Sunlight on Snow, have we found out more about exactly what Broken Angel is, Lord Vine 99 making contact with pure blooded vine, etc. Harada isn't the only character on the team, and his actions are the only ones that can move the plot forward.
Imperium was a way to give Toyo a break and let him, and now his new team, explore other corners of the Valiant Universe. Plus I doubt Valiant will sit on the IP.
P.S. I also miss Sunlight of Snow.

Or course there's always potential with a guy like Toyo and the Foundation but the title "Imperium" was all about that one particular vision of Toyo's. Whatever the future will bring for Toyo, the Foundation, and any of its evil players it should be under another title.... unless it's gonna be the "Imperium, Volume 2: The Darque Version." Not that the last one wasn't dark enough!
Sunlight and Broken Angel need to get their own mini-series, or be on opposite sides of another Unity volume.

Don't really want to see any of his team members get series of their own though to be honest, just don't see that they've got enough potential to hold up by themselves. Broken Angel definitely has buckets of potential however - personally though I just don't like the character enough to want to see it in its own series

Re: Valiant from March 2017 and beyond...
In regards to Valiant stuff in March and beyond, I just realized something last night. I was talking to some other Valiant fans and realized that Rai must have actually ended at #12, even though it was never listed as a finale issue. I know that they kept going on hiatus for a few months after each arc to let the artist get ahead again, but the last arc ran in parallel to the 4001 AD stuff from May - August. So it's now been three months since it ended and we don't have any listings for Rai in the solicitations for three month out from now. Six months is a longer break then they had ever done before, and with how the story ended, I'm guessing now that might be it for the foreseeable future. Maybe when they're ready to launch Psi-Lords, they'll bring back Rai also so that they have another 4001 title to link it with (not that they were shy about having Rai by itself in 4001 before)?

I think that might be right. 4001 AD had a definite capstone feel to it regarding the ongoing Rai series, and while I believe Dinesh hinted on Twitter that there are plans in place for what comes after 4001 AD, I wouldn't be surprised if it was a retooling a la Bloodshot Reborn/Harbinger Renegade/A&A. I think he might have used the hashtag #FutureForce, but I may have just dreamt that.Phoenix8008 wrote:In regards to Valiant stuff in March and beyond, I just realized something last night. It was terrible when it came out in the 90's. It is still terrible. If Rai took place in present day would we call the title Rai and the Present Force?

Names don't always have to make sense to be cool. Although maybe you could create a book this time of year called "Santa and the Present Force". I like it, I think many others like it as well. You are welcome to dislike it.FormerReader wrote:jeremycoe wrote:Eh, I like itFormerReader wrote:Keith wrote:
