I am about 3 and 1/2 hours away, but wouldnt spend 8,000 on them. I hate when people have reserves. Just start the bidding at what you are happy to get.

It doesnt sound all that bad..I am sure that there are some nice books in there...i dont know what you would do with all of the toys, but you could probably stock a decent table at a convention or something like that.. :thumb:

Those toys'll take up a lot of room. I had one of those Next Gen bridges in picture 5 and that thing's huge. Not to mention those 12 inch X-Men figures in pic 8.

Yeah and then sell all the decent stuff for a grand or two and stack the rest of the crap in your garage for the next 20 years.

I have enough stacked everywhere now..I decided long ago that I wasnt looking to make money on any of my collectibles..I want things because I like them, not so I can stack them in my car hole...I mean I will end up stacking everything in the car hole, but I dont buy things for that reason... :thumb:

Exactly!

And that's why I wouldn't want a large collection like this. What the heck would you do with all the crap you're not interested in?

So you'd end up just doing the business side and losing the enjoyment aspect of that "hobby"...

PS, interesting story

Knightt_333 wrote:When I retire from the Army in less than two years now... I would LOVE to own a comic shop as my business endeavor. You know, something to have fun with. Something like this would be a great thing to start a comic shop with, everything that you would need for a starter business.

But, I had a friend who had a comic shop in Fort Bragg, NC. He started off, very nice location and was not doing well at all even though there seemed to be enough traffic in his shop. He just was not doing well.. a few months later, I get back from South America and BOOM things look good, he has nice clothes on, nice vehicle and I ask WTF happened ? Well, he tells me he had to make a decision... either be a collector or be a comic book dealer. You see he would save stuff that came in for his collection, could have sold it off but didnt. He changed his MO and became a businessman and started rolling in the dough. So, as nice as it would be to have a comic shop, I would hate to lose the collector aspect of me. That would suck...

So I guess that means just running a porn site in my retirement years soon to come. I mean there are two things that I know about in the world... comics and.... well you know.
Thats an interesting story and I have often thought about that very aspect of owning a shop. Me and my wife have desided that we are opening a comic shop when my youngest is in school.......so in three years. I will keep my radio job but other then that it will be my life.

Thanks Knight that was always bugging me on how to handle the situation. There has to be some type of middle, where you can keep the collector in you to SOME degree.

Speed. And the answer is simple you get a truck and move all the books to a safe location during the night then you set the store on fire and claim insurance. You get your money and the cash...but not the girl. but come on, only Bond gets the girl, do you think you're James Bond?

the rule is simple...Dont get high on your own supply. It should govern everything you do. :thumb:
