Ouch.
This is probably the end of VEI. They were hardly publishing anything to begin with and their pivot to NFTs was stupid and a waste of resources.
Wonder if they will sell the character IP to anyone?

I haven’t been on the boards for months..I expressed my displeasure at almost every opportunity regarding Dan Mintz. This is still sad for all those people. Sad to see the company going down like this. To say it has been a long time coming is a understatement. The writing is on the wall, and many people knew it…still I am sad. I wonder what you all think?

The only thing surprising about this is that it didn't come sooner.

I’m sorry for those that lost their jobs. That’s all I’m sorry about though.
Once VEI became DMG, that was it for me in hindsight. DMG has been producing mostly garbage for years now at $4 a copy. I love the VALIANT characters, but I chose a while ago that I would not follow them blindly into the abyss again. Been there, done that a few times already.

We're also in August now and still don't have October solicits. I think this is the end.

Post Dinesh era I blame Fred Pierce or whoever it was who appointed the editors at that point. This was a pivotal moment where they chose sub standard creators and chose badly on the direction of the company. They didn’t learn and quickly doubled down on hiring the Heather Antos types who in term brought in her crew of D list creators as she prioritised ‘amplifying voices’ over what the long term fans wanted.
Is this a blessing in disguise? Could this be a step closer to Dinesh returning at the helm??

It was only a matter of time I guess. Perhaps for the best. RIP Valiant, again.

I don't understand what exactly Valiant was trying to do with NFTs (https://nft.valiantentertainment.com/) but based on comments over at the Discord channel it seems like Valiant left people who bought into this high and dry as well.

The death of Valiant comics 4 years after the majority ownership decided in 2018 they didn't need Dinesh Shamdasani, the primary creative force... seems familiar since...sonicdan wrote: Fri Aug 05, 2022 8:12 am It was only a matter of time I guess. Perhaps for the best. RIP Valiant, again.![]()

Good! Long past due. I hope somehow the company can end up in good hands after this.

Yep, just goes to show that even with great characters you need the right team behind the scenes making the right judgement calls. In the wrong hands it’s an absolute *SQUEE* show!greg wrote: Fri Aug 05, 2022 10:14 amThe death of Valiant comics 4 years after the majority ownership decided in 2018 they didn't need Dinesh Shamdasani, the primary creative force... seems familiar since...sonicdan wrote: Fri Aug 05, 2022 8:12 am It was only a matter of time I guess. For real. That was the opportunity to refresh the line, pivot towards the old universe while also building on what VEI had built.Dallow Spicer1 wrote: Fri Aug 05, 2022 6:55 am Post Dinesh era I blame Fred Pierce or whoever it was who appointed the editors at that point. It's genuinely amazing they were able to publish the little they did post-pencils down. It was mostly terrible, but they still scraped together enough for a while.
The article doesn't mention any creatives specifically. Be interesting to know if Bunn or Cloonan or Parker have posted anything publicly yet.

Re: Layoffs & Resignations Leave VALIANT’s Future in Doubt
It took them a year to finish The Visitor. When that happened I checked out on Valiant. I came back for Shadowman, but am behind on that. Valiant is going out with a whimper and it's sad.SwiftMann wrote: Fri Aug 05, 2022 3:00 pm It's genuinely amazing they were able to publish the little they did post-pencils down. Manga, comics, who cares? They're pretty much the same thing.

They've updated their release calendar. It goes from September 2022 straight to January 2023 (Book of Shadows #3 is now listed for January of next year). Archer & Armstrong Forever #5 has also been removed from September.

Is it possible they just haven't added October's stuff yet?Shaggy wrote: Sun Aug 07, 2022 11:14 pm https://valiantentertainment.com/events/

Re: Layoffs & Resignations Leave VALIANT’s Future in Doubt
I guess we'll just have to wait and see. But just a few days ago Book of Shadows #3 and Archer & Armstrong #5 were listed for September and now one is missing and Book of Shadows #3 has been delayed to January (btw, the classic Eternal Warrior omnibus is also no longer listed). And it's August and we don't have October solicits. Usually they would have been released like 2 weeks ago.

Archer is done at 4, then moving to one book a month with the new mature Bloodshot in September through December. Book of Shadows returns in January, followed by the new XO. Nothing about Ninjak, which was previewed in the fcbd issue. Honestly, it will be a shock if Valiant lasts through the end of Book of Shadows.

Re: Layoffs & Resignations Leave VALIANT’s Future in Doubt
Was looking forward to seeing Liam Sharpe’s art on XO. Not heard particular good things about Cloonan/Conrad as writers though but was hoping for the best.
