Who Would You Like To See Be VALIANT's Next Creative Officer?
It can't be someone that has already done it.
Comics are like a Rorschach test, everyone has a different opinion on what they are and can be...

Re: Who Would You Like To See Be VALIANT's Next Creative Officer?
Interesting.
I think it should be someone fresh, from outside comic books. Maybe TV.
Someone that can judge the VALIANT characters as what they are, a varied selection of different genres, rather than see them all as "superheroes".
That can determine the creative direction. That way, for instance, Shadowman can more fully embrace being a horror series. Harbinger can more fully embrace being what amounts to a group of superpowered terrorists fighting a corporate giant. That sort of thing.

I don't really know the people who are currently out there, so I will say somebody LIKE Robert Kirkman, Ed Brubaker, and Mark Millar. All of those writers have created multiple hit comic book series that develop large readerships, that then become the template for even more successful adaptations in other mediums.

And history continues to repeat itself. We're in the Acclaim phase it seems. This is the thinking that led to Fabian Nicieza and VH2 where Garth Ennis, Mark Waid and the like were brought in to make Shadowman a horror series etc. Let Valiant be Valiant. Don't break what's not broken. Just do it well. That's what Dinesh and crew proved was the right idea in 2012. What we need is Dinesh back or a new Dinesh. The right person (who would also actually take the job at this point) is probably someone we've never heard of before.ManofTheAtom wrote: ↑Thu Aug 24, 2023 10:32:40 pmInteresting.

Someone from the industry that is fan of Valiant. Not just a fan from afar, but someone who read the books and knows what made them special during the original run and the VEI start up run.

I'll do it.
But my weekly salary is: Once a week, I get to kick Dan Mintz in the junk, or spit in his face.

Interesting. I think he should at least write Ninjak or Bloodshot.

Interesting choice. I am a big fan of his writing - Lazarus is in my all-time top 3-5 favourite comic series. It is, in some regards, his own brand of a character in the vein of Bloodshot.ManofTheAtom wrote: ↑Thu Sep 07, 2023 7:39:09 amInteresting. I think he should at least write Ninjak or Bloodshot.
