One more Alien rumor
Debated posting this. But some people I talked to privately encouraged the conversation. As always, this is a rumor I heard from my store. Take it as you like.
Alien licensed comics from Valiant with the understanding that sales have dropped dramatically and that sales will continue to drop. They are happy with only 1,500 fans buying the new books. Another way to look at it is that they are targeting only the die hards. Should mean that we are unlikely to see an ibooks situation.

Interesting. If done right, it can be used to grow their market share again. Who knows.syzhang28 wrote: Wed Aug 30, 2023 10:24 am Debated posting this. But some people I talked to privately encouraged the conversation. As always, this is a rumor I heard from my store. Take it as you like.

At the same time, they really need to plan how to expand from there.

Re: One more Alien rumor
If that's true, then the Kickstarter is WAY more important than they want to admit.
531 die hard fans that got robbed and ignored... some are likely to not buy... and a fair amount of us complaining might have pushed some other die hard fans out.

- I would buy anything about these characters, sadly.

Re: One more Alien rumor
It would make more sense if the plan was to try and keep the hardcore fans, and then trying to expand from there. The 5 years of DMG have mostly not been like that, its seemed more like they've been actively trying to appeal to a new fanbase, and not too concerned with the old school or VEI fans.
It makes sense to try to keep the customers you already have. It doesn't make sense that they would only want a certain small number of people buying the books. Unless that's the break even number. One would think the comic book division would at least have to break even to keep going.

Sigh It's wayyyyy off base. I would never be happy with such a small number, psh. Completely crazy.
At least last time with the rumor you were a little closer to the truth lol.
Die-hards are of course super important and always have been on my mind, but that's not new.
There is no one talking to stores at this time. No one who works Valiant, Alien, or DMG to any stores.
I'll tell your store accurate information if they'd like me to reach out.

I know all of the people at Alien and nobody has ever said such a thing. These are not rumors but fabrications.syzhang28 wrote: Wed Aug 30, 2023 10:24 am Debated posting this.
