Magic and Technology
In Psi-Lords, Molmachs (41st Century versions of nanites) could terraform planets and change alien physiology (they were used to turn Spider-Aliens from carnivores into herbivores).
Hypothesis: What if Ivar accidentally transported Molmachs from the 41st Century to Earth's ancient past (let us say ancient Egypt, for example) and they became the origin of magic as we know it in the 20th/21st Century? Meaning, they've remained a part of Earth's ecosystem since then, permeating everything but never detected.
What if magic is nothing more and nothing less than magic users controlling Molmachs to do what they want them to do without them knowing that that is what they are doing?
What if so-called magic words like "Abracadabra", "Hocus Pocus", "Open Sesame", or whatever people like Nettie and Darque say during their rituals are nothing more than voice commands that tell the Molmachs what to do, how to change the environment and people, etc.,?

Re: Magic and Technology
Ivar could have taken Molmachs from the 41st Century so far back to Earth's past that, as time passed and they became so embedded within the human genome, flora, and fauna, they stopped being recognized as Molmachs. If they can change planets and living beings, they can change themselves...

It is a possible explanation but by no means a likely one.

Re: Magic and Technology
There is precedent showing that Ivar has dragged technology from the 41st Century to the past.Chiclo wrote: Tue Dec 24, 2024 8:29 amMitochondria.ManofTheAtom wrote: Tue Dec 24, 2024 7:25 am Ivar could have taken Molmachs from the 41st Century so far back to Earth's past that, as time passed and they became so embedded within the human genome, flora, and fauna, they stopped being recognized as Molmachs. F-7 was a Freewill robot active in North Am during the 41st Century who ended up in England in the 20th Century because of a manipulation of the timestream by Ivar. During his short time in the 20th Century he visited London and Stonehenge, and made friends with rock legend Jimi Hendrix.
