Harbinger 0 and 1 9.8 CGC'd

That's what I was suspicious of (other than the obvious gouging on the prices). If you've got 100% positive, and the feedback meter says that he does, why hide it? What did somebody say about you that you don't want everybody else to see?DawgPhan wrote:I really dont care for the private feedback. Thank you for your candid feedback. It is very important to me and I greatly appreciate it. I have lurked on these boards for a very long time, but since this discussion pertains to me, I thought I would cotribute a few posts.DawgPhan wrote:I hope that they dont sell because I dont like the way he runs his auction.
You got that right. I may very well definitely be a clown who overpaid even more money than what I am trying to sell these for now under current market conditions. Even with recent modest purchase prices to average cost down my positions, so to speak, its not something I have the time or money to do anymore. But still a Harb # 1 CGC 9.8 is pretty unique. They have sold anywhere between $750.00 to over $1000.00. I guess it just depends on basic economics -- who wants it and what they are willing to pay.GGSAE wrote:agreed. I think he'll get 600 for the pair (if he takes it).

I am not trying to gouge anyone. At one point in time with market conditions, these prices would be considered reaonsable. I know because I paid more. As far as the feedback goes, well to be quite frank and honest; for one its none of my intrusive ex-wife's business what I am doing on eBay. And also due to the fact that recently I have sold high end computer related items and such, my previous auction winners were receiving bogus solicitations and various other kinds of creative correspondences, I decided to roll with the private feedback for now. This is not something I have done historically speaking.davidb wrote:That's what I was suspicious of (other than the obvious gouging on the prices). Welcome to the Jungle, those are some nice books. Are the comments helping you with the selling process? I know that a 9.8 #1 is a rare animal given the way it was printed and I thought that maybe you were the one who submitted the books until I read your 2nd post. If you don't mind me asking, did you buy these as investments (to flip) or are you a collector needing to sell? I've got several books (Valiant and Non-Valiant) that I've considered letting escape, but have paid more than I think I'll get out so I refuse to sell 'em. Anyway, I hope you don't mind me asking.nvidia19 wrote:Thank you for your candid feedback. It is very important to me and I greatly appreciate it. I DO NOT EAT, DRINK OR ABSORB SOULS, DAMMIT!
The only reason why I set up these Valiant auctions in this format, is because eBay was offering a .10 cent listing special for FIXED format. I had to take them up on it. Otherwise to spend money on reserves, or BIN's with these kinds of opening price points would add up and be very costly to me the seller. I listed a boat load of Valiant CGC book auctions for ONLY $1.40!!!! That is crazy not to jump on.DawgPhan wrote:exactly..it is a tatic used by scam artist...samething with private auctions where you cant see the high bidder, which is basically what this is...just setup a little different...I dont like this auction and I hope that it doesnt sell.
Usually my auctions are normal traditional style. They start at .99 bid with NO reserve and the auction bidding themselves is NOT private. See this WOLVERINE CGC 9.8 auction I currently have going:

There are many scammers that will contact buyers of legit items and try to 'sell' them something cheaper, that's for sure. Especially in the computer/electronics area. So it's not surprising to me that you have experienced some of that harassment of your buyers from these scumbags.
The last time I sold anything over $500, sometime last year, bidders were getting emails from punks claiming that I was a scammer and that I didn't have the book I was selling and that they should buy from them instead of me. It was a pain in the *SQUEE* to deal with.
No way you should be running on the same account that your ex-wife knows about though. Yes, you'll take a hit initially with a new selling ID until you get your feedback up again, but that won't last forever and you'll have a new ID free and clear of her and no need to remain private.

Thanks for your comments and welcome!!! I am without a doubt a Valiant collector. I actually have some really nice runs of my favorite titles like RAI, Magnus, Harb, etc. all raw unslabbed. I did get caught up for a bit in the CGC revolution and picked up numerous items as "investments" -- a concept as many others have. At this point, I need cash, so I have to part with some really cool stuff. But thats how it goes with super high grade expensive slabbed comics -- easy come, easy go.X-O HoboJoe wrote:Welcome to the Jungle, those are some nice books. I still dont like these types of auctions, but he did give reasonable explanations, so have at it. Sucks about the Ex and I am glad that you finally decided to post on these boards. I have seen your ebay handle around buying up the 9.8 sabs, so I knew about you before this auction. Anyway

Nice to see you posting! Hate to see you sell such a rare thing as the Harb 1, though. I hope you get to keep it, although if the BIN is hit it will be good enough consolation.
Be sure to tell all of us about the "best offers" you get. Has the "$35, shipped" come in yet??
Have you thought about listing them on comiclink?
