What I will take from San Diegos Convention.......
Ah, the memories! Most of all it was my pleasure in meeting the fellow board members. All of them should be listed and they know who they are but here they are again…..
Knight333
Greg
Magnusr
X-Omatic
Comixguy
Betterthanezra
Serenity
Dino
Reagen
K_C_Collectibles
Zephwashot
anyone else I had forgotten
What I will take from this is a kindred friendship with all of these fine gentleman and ladies with whom our only connection is a dead company that the comic industry will take notice of yet again!
The memories I will never forget from this trip…….
-Brain freeze of dippin dots and the face a young traveler, 7 years in age from Sweden, the first night we meet with Magnus. I felt bad as he took that huge spoonful and it appeared as if he was going to be ill! With that I am sorry Magnus and Lucas, it was a pleasure to meet your family. Your wife was very nice and your children were cordial and well behaved, it appeared they all had fun.
-Being in the company of Knight, Greg and Magnusr for 3 extremely enjoyable nights discussing family, hobbies and even a little about comics and the artists that draw them.
-Watching Greg loosen up!
-Being the first person to purchase X-Omatics new book, Hired Gun! Its very well written, drawn, inked and I look forward to issue #2 next year at SD!
-Going to a movie premier with Bernard Chang, Sean Chen and Tommy Lee Edwards. Upon arriving, seeing Brian Michael Bendis, Peter David and other big names within the comic community.
-Watching Greg loosen up with lack of sleep!
-Comic shop hopping before the Con and Knight, Greg and myself sharing books to fill gaps in collections. Some of the books pulled were a Good, the bad, the very ugly, Shadowman #16 Glow in the dark and multiple copies of Armorines Vol #2, Issue #4.
-Closing down bars, restaurants and hotel lobby parties. What a blast.
-Watching Greg appear drunk due to lack of sleep and an impromptu trip to Tijuana. He doesn’t drink, but my god, with no sleep Saturday night, he was the spitting image of the rest of us from previous nights!
-Did I mention Gene Simmons, Fred Durst, Elizabeth Berkeley, Angelina Jolie and Bruce Willis.
-Picking up a couple of copies of IBOOKS new Magnus graphic novel just to give them away and recoup another from Greg. Hopefully the book will fail and Classic Media will contact the new Valiant to make live again!
-The hour Greg and I spent talking to Michael Lovitz, the attorney for VIP, LLC after the opening days first Comic Law 101 class. Unofficially of course, but much came out of that conversation. I am happy he isn’t on our side, or we wouldn’t have a snowballs chance in hell!
-The creators! Nuff said, they were awesome, willing to talk and it was nice to be able to meet them and other who did not/were not able to attend the gathering.
-Princess Leia in her slave girl outfit from ROTJ! WOW, is all I can say. GRRRR.
-Getting to speak with the 2 of the new owners of Valiant, ranks highly up there. The valiant characters are in extremely good hands and to know there is a method to their madness and secrecy. And to know that the love of these characters goes back to when they were 12 and 11 years of age is a relief.
Anyway, this could go on forever, but the rest I will share at a later date, maybe in another year!
Again, it was my pleasure to meet you all and look forward to NYC.

Under wraps, yes! I don't hold information that we ALL don't already know. The rightful owners of Valiant aren't sharing and they have a good reason why not to.Todd Luck wrote:So all info on what is currently going on with the Valiant properties and the plans of the new owners is still under wraps?
Lovitz said he and "his client" read the boards, so if the rightful owners spilled any beans then it would be relayed to the boards and then the people holding certain trademarks hostage, would have an upperhand.
I can reassure you, Lovitz would rather be working on our side! He likened it to Plasmer/Warriors of Plasm case years ago. Definately a difference between the 2 properties and case closed if you ask me. Its not only good to be right, but finacially right, which is what is taking so long. He has never before taken a ransom/hostage job and didn't like it when Greg made those words know about what VIP, LLC are doing to the properties.
I can sleep better now knowing we will come out victorious eventually and to know that the IBOOKS magnus graphic novel sucks, means their failed attempt at a revamp will eventually bring 2 classic media properties knocking on the true door of Valiant and it can be whole once again!

I will never forget the look on the womans face who had the table next to mine. She was very religious and her comic was based on Revelations. At my table was the cover colorist Hugo, the writer Justin, my friend Steve, and myself. Justin stood up with a bag in his hands and shouted "hey whos porn is this?" Hugo then says "free porn...it's mine". I wish I had taken a picture of her expression.

You can imagine what was being said with 5 guys watching the ladies go by. Especially those in costumes like Black Cat, Cat Woman, Wonder Woman, Liea, and one with only 2 pieces of tape covering her nips.X-O HoboJoe wrote:x-omatic wrote:I will never forget the look on the womans face who had the table next to mine. We really tried hard to watch what we said as not to offend her. But is was really hard.

I said hard.
