CGC and Pedigree Certificates
So I have a copy of Batman 253 from the Mile High 2 collection, and I was thinking of sending it to CGC. I don't think it will fetch more than a VF-, but I thought it'd be cool to get my only pedigree graded.
Has anyone done this before? If so, what do they do with the certificate when you send it in? On the FAQ, it says that you should send it in for the book to be designated as a Pedigree, but they don't say what happens to the CoA. Is it inserted in the slab? Mailed back to me? Thrown away? Thanks...

No answer, just a new question. So CGC will assign a pedigree if a certificate is supplied, but if you send in a signing certificate you will get "names written on cover". Anyone know why it's like that?Schmakt wrote:So I have a copy of Batman 253 from the Mile High 2 collection, and I was thinking of sending it to CGC. Not sure to your question either, but here's the FAQ I was looking at... doesn't say anything about signed stuff. I was looking for info on signed books at one point too tho. The only thing I could find was about their Certified Signature series or whatever. Said that a CGC representative had to be present at the time of the signing to verify the authenticity b/c they do not authenticate sigs...
List your comics describing quantity, comic book date (Mo/Yr), publisher, title, issue number, pedigree, variant, and your declared value. For a book to receive Pedigree designation, CGC must have a copy of the certificate OR a letter stating that you own the book(s), who you purchased the books from, and your signature. This letter or certificate copy must be included with your submission or the Pedigree will not be assigned to your book(s). WARNING: Failure to fill out the CGC form COMPLETELY will result in significant delays of your submission!

Alright I am going to answer your first question. CGC will not be giving you pedigree status on the label if you send this book in. They only gave that status to books that Chuckie sent in himself. Since there were literaly stacks and stacks of each book in that warehouse and no truly identifing marks they will not say that it is a pedigree book. I dont even think that chuckie can send in MH2 books and have them slabbed as such. Hope that helps.

If they didnt see it happen they will not say that the sig is legit. That is their rule.magnusr wrote:No answer, just a new question. Is this true with all collections or MH2 in particular? If it's MH2, is it because of the "identifying marks" you were talking about?DawgPhan wrote:Alright I am going to answer your first question. No if you have an unslabbed Church book and submit the proper proof and they can identify it as a church you can get the pedigree label. I think that with the MH2 books they just dont label books with that pedigree anymore. I think that the main problem is that there are stacks and stacks of the same book that all look the same. I also dont think that chuckie took great notes about which books where there and how many copies and that sort of thing. With church books they are normally only 1 of each book. The books all fall between certain dates and they all have the date written in pencil on the cover. Other books will all have adate stamp, or the name of the comic shop on the cover. Things like that, were someone could take a quick look at the book and tell you what pedigree it was....And I would exactly call the MH2 collection a pedigree, but it is a nice warehouse find.Schmakt wrote:Is this true with all collections or MH2 in particular? Sometimes you surprise me with the stuff I know.... Think about that for awhile...
huh?
I'm going to take a crack at this riddle and conclude....
that CKB must be implying that Dawg knows what he (dawg) knows, about the CGC Pedigree accumen & procedure, from knowledge he (CKB) must have bestowed upon him

I guess...I would think that ckb knows that I know he knows better than that..Peter Parker wrote:DawgPhan wrote:ckb wrote:]DawgPhan wrote:o problem...sometimes I surprise even myself with some of the stuff I know...Schmakt wrote:got it, cool. A bummer, but thanks a lot for the information
