Well, the question is asking about the ultimate experience. The reason I don't actually HAVE any original art, or a box full of CGC'd books is because I "just read them" too. But the ultimate experience, would be having the original art. For me anyway.Brother J wrote:so far I'm the only one who actually reads the damn things...
I would agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

I'm always after a SWEET art deal. Sometimes art can be so high in price you just shake your head. ONCE in a while you score a nice stack and really cheap
I've read them all so this is the next best thing.

I love the books from days gone by, when I read the book and cared what happened in the story. Most of todays books don't interest me. most are just put out to grab every $ they can through multiple covers and stretched out stories that take over 30 books to get the entire story line.
But the ultimate experience for me is getting a 1 of a kind artwork. It always has been. I don't buy much today due to the high prices although a few years ago I picked up a few choice items for reasonable prices. It's just the rush of being able to look at the artwork & knowing you've got the only one. It's a collectors rush!

There is no option up there for "Hunting". My favorite thing in the world (with the obvious exception of my family ) is hunting for Valiant books in old boxes at some hole in the wall shop. I love it so much I make it part of every vacation. Before we leave on a trip I research all the shops in the area of our destination, and I'll even do precalls to make sure I'm not going to waste precious time in a D&D shop.
Cant beat the rush of finding a book you've been looking for forever.
That being said , Lately I have been looking at original art. There is something about a penciled sketch of an inked original that I really love. It is becoming a close second to my hunting fetish!

When I was five, I dragged my dad into "Mike's Comic Hut"... If only I'd known..

The ultimate experience for me has been getting that last hard to find issue to complete any particular run that you've been working on at an LCS...not ebay...there is nothing like the thrill of finally holding the book that you've been looking for!!! Ebay is too easy and I would rather enjoy the thrill of the hunt...not that I don't use ebay...just not as exciting!!!
