Foreign Valiant website - site updated 9/18
Hi all,
I finished the first page in my foreign Valiant/Gold Key/Dell site. The website is in English, but features comics published in foreign languages.
This first page is for French Magnus comics. Right now my focus is on content rather than design. If anyone has the scans I am missing please let me know. Check it out and let me know what you think. Also, which title/language should I work on next?
http://st39.startlogic.com/~freenewi/ma ... us_fr.html
9/18 - I updated the Magnus page with new scans from magnusr (thanks!), and I added a new page for Solar in German:
http://st39.startlogic.com/~freenewi/so ... ar_ge.html
I'd love to hear your thoughts.

kpaquett, please do send me those scans. I'd much appreciate them.
I've got over 100 scans of French, Italian, Spanish, and German books to keep adding.

Here they are:

Both have copyrights 1964 and 1967. They have black and white interiors on cheapy gray newsprint. All the dialog has been changed to Dutch(German?) language with a typewriter.

I bought these on eBay, maybe 6-7 years ago, from an autioneer in the UK.

Thanks. These aren't all from my collection, but rather from scans that I have collected over a long period of time. I have several issues from most foreign valiant/gold key series, and I am trying to collect one complete series at a time.
Right now I am working on collecting the German Actionhelden series, which are 14 digests (like those archie double digests), and almost each digest has at least one issue each of magnus, turok, and dr. solar in it. I am only missing 2 or 3. I may consider selling/auctioning my duplicates at some point, if not at least to help get other people's collections started.
Anyway, anyone have ideas on a domain name for my site?

It's kind of generic, but you could turn it into a comprehensive site beyond
Valiant, Gold Key, and Dell if you aren't careful.
great idea, greg. i bought the domain. hopefully over the weekend I can create another long page for the site.

Nice site!
I'll add a link to it from my website if you don't mind.
It's nice knowing these characters had/have an international audience.

Thanks dan, that would be cool. Right now the pages are on temporary links. I should have my new domain, foreigncomics.com, up and running this week, so if you'd like, you can link to that when it's ready. I will try to get another 1 or 2 pages up tonight. My goal is to document the appearances all of the Valiant and Dell/Gold Key (Turok, Magnus, Solar) in foreign languages.
I have seen a few other similar sites, but none are a) in English, b) exclusive to these characters, c) feature all the cover scans and issues, and d) have more than one language's worth of comics.
I think realistically, most of these are collectable to the average user, though I think the Spanish Turoks will be the hardest, as there are just too many of them lol.

I didn't have all those, thanks. Those are all the Spanish versions, right? I have ordered the Ninjak ones, so I will scan all those covers once they arrive. Would you possibly be able to scan the covers of the others for me?
Thanks,
Kal
