OMG!!
I know Midgley... he was a proffessor at the college I used to go to In fact he was my old roomate's advisor, and that film (if you want to call it that) was shot in east Texas, but I don't think it was based off of the character shadowman though, it was probablly more of a bad music video for his music. He's done a lot of weird techno style music like that before. 
On another note, you might want to find his Nerd song, it's kinda funny and was a hit on the internet for a while, I think he was flown out to LA to perform it on a cable channel a couple years back...
