A Challenge for the Artists
How about those of you who are artists do some mock up covers for the reborn VALIANT?
We could make it a competition to see which covers are the best based on who gets the most votes.
The challenge would consist on depicting the eight principal VALIANT chararacters (Magnus, Solar, Rai, X-O Manowar, Shadowman, Harbinger, Eternal Warrior, and Archer & Armstrong) on images that could work as the first issue of their new series.
Each penciler can do anything between one or eight covers (one for each individual series) and then post them here for the others to vote on.
The goal is to find the eight best covers (the best Magnus cover, the best Solar cover, the best Rai cover, the best X-O Manowar cover, the best Shadowman cover, the best Harbinger cover, the best Eternal Warrior cover, and the best Archer & Armstrong cover).
Some ground rules:
This is VALIANT, in which comic book time = real time, so you have to take that into account when thinking of how the characters may have changed since the last time we saw them (does X-O Manowar have a new armor? Since Jack died in 1999 is there even a Shadowman, and if so is it a he or a she? White, Black, or Asian? How are the Harbinger kids different? Which characters from the original group are still fighting the good fight and who, if any, are the new members? What kind of toll has Gilad's never ending war taken on him? Where are Archer & Armstrong living now, and is it still the two of them or has someone else joined them? Is Obadiah still Rai or has he been replaced by someone else? And where is Magnus, in the past, the present, or the future?).
Once your images are complete post them here for the rest of us to see so we can vote on them. Keep in mind, this image is for the first issue of a new series which goal is to make people want to buy it.
Have fun

I like the concept. However, I can't draw worth a damn
.
Even good stick figures are a challenge to me.
One thing about your choices - no Bloodshot? He is one of my favorite characters from Valiant. I know I personally like him more than Rai!

For me the core of VALIANT is made up of the eight series that took part in Unity while everything else is a spin off or derivative of those eight series, so the ones that weren't listed can be made part of the eight that were.

This is a wonderful concept. Unfortunately, I cannot draw worth *SQUEE*. Writing is my thing. And frankly it would blow my mind to try and figure out where to take the story within the rules of Rai #0 - isn't the huge Harbinger war supposed to be on by now? I would think the VU might have a hard time maintaining even a semblance of individual stories, unless the conflict is currently a smaller 'secret war.' (sans Latveria and Nick Fury)
Where would Magnus even be at this point? I don't recall exactly how his book ended, but wasn't it some really grim, scorched earth apocalyptic type thing? I remember being interested when Obadiah and Torque II were featured in Rai and Magnus, respectively, but I know a lot of people really hated that, probably for good reason, and by then the books were going way south anyway.

Magnus was thrown out of time, at least according to the Destroyer, so he could be anywhere.jsbt wrote:This is a wonderful concept. Unfortunately, I cannot draw worth *SKREE*. Writing is my thing. As for the Harbinger Wars, right now they're the Corporate Wars, they haven't escalated into a full blown military conflict.
May 2003: The beginning of the first Corporate War, started by Toyo Harada
March 2020: Obadiah Archer marries Harbinger Charlene DuPre. Together they found a movement, the "Archies," dedicated to world peace
