eBay Search Function NOT WORKING

Post by ZephyrWasHOT!! »

Lately, the eBay search function has been VERY, VERY erratic...often missing lots of auctions for some odd reason.

I only noticed because I was looking at some auctions, I reloaded the page...and the auctions disappeared....I reloaded AGAIN....and back they were.

VERY erratic.

I noticed the same thing yesterday. I did a search "Chicago Cubs + t-shirt" from the main menu and then I did the same search parameters from the Men's Apparel section and came up with a different list.

I noticed this as well yesterday on my weekly Rai search - it came up with 12 pages at first, but once on page6 or 7, I went to the next page and it told me there were no more auctions. Reload, and it's fine. Also, the number of items found varied from 509 to 564.

:? :? :?

Some people spend their whole lives believing in fairy tales, usually because they don't want to give up the fabulous prizes.

Ebay has been acting goofy like that (for me anyway ) off and on for awhile now. Sometimes the searches take forever to load up too.

I've noticed that too...even stalled searches...
Why waste time learning, when ignorance is instantaneous?

not only has it been missing auction but I have to sort through all the eBay store stuff. It also seems like keyword spamming is more frequent lately.

yep, that's the thing that ticked me off, they used to keep the store listings separate, which helped a GREAT deal, both in getting bargains out of the store, and keeping the real auctions segregated.

They launched some new upgrade recently that basically sucks. The only reason I know is that one of my PC's had an old browser and they displayed the search results in HTML (no graphics)with a note telling me to upgrade the browser for compatibility with their new search engine. An annoying "improvement" is now when you search, they display the BIN items also. I knew their was a rat when they said they had 87 pages of Ultravese items
Started at the genesis - had to come back

Items that came up in my Valiant search before the change...about 2000
Items that come up now...about 21000!

I HATE KEYWORD SPAM!

Here is a good example. All of the sellers auctions have this paragraph.

http://cgi.ebay.com/SHOWCASE-14-4th-FLA ... dZViewItem

Currently, We have just acquired a very large lot of Silver Age books form a one-owner collection in Nebraska. All of them will make their way onto eBay. Included in this lot are Hulk #1 (1st Appearance/Origin of The Hulk!), Showcase #14 (4th Flash!), Green Lantern #1, Justice League America #1, Fantastic Four #3, Journey Into Mystery #84 (2nd Thor), Tales to Astonish #36 (2nd Ant-Man/1st in Costume), Tales to Astonish #1, Green Lantern #9 (2nd Sinestro), Justice League America #12 (1st Dr. Light), Mystery In Space #54 (2nd Adam Strange), Magnus, Robot Fighter #1, Showcase #34 (Origin/1st Appearance Silver Age Atom), Showcase #23 (2nd S.A. Green Lantern), Showcase #37 (1st Metal Men), and hundreds upon hundreds more!! Win more than one and shipping can be consolidated. You will not be disappointed in them unless you are expecting perfect NM books. If you would like a more detailed description of the book, that can be provided as well.

I wish eBay would add a feature that would allow someone to block certain sellers from appearing in their searches.

I get tons of irrelevant stuff in my searches that could be cut down by more than half if I could block just a few sellers :!:
