Re: What I'd Like To See From VALIANT
4. Shadowman (OG Jack Boniface) (not going to happen because the Zero (VH2) version is getting another video game)
I thought the new game was about Jack. It wouldn't make sense for DMG to license out VH2 characters when they want to make money off of modern stuff.
Also, what I'd like to see ...

Re: Question About VH1 XO Manowar Finale...
XO ending the way it did seemed almost like an apology for killing off Ken and Randy. Because everything from Crescendo's introduction to that final issue was hot garbage. I will never understand why Acclaim so thoroughly broke a comic that was already doing extremely well.

Top Cow
Does the Top Cow Universe count as a dead universe at this point? Nothing from the publisher related to Witchblade or The Darkness has come out in years. They keep saying they're rebooting Witchblade, but that's been claimed since the last reboot failed pre-pandemic. While I loved the Ron Marz ...

Re: What comics are you reading now?
The second collection of The New Teen Titans. The first eight issues were extraordinary, so I'm excited to see what 9-16 have to offer. Also picked up the new Spawn/Batman collection of the 90s crossovers: the DC-published one is gutter trash, but I actually dig the Miller/McFarlane team-up knowing ...

Re: Dino Looking to Buy Back Valiant? (Bleeding Cool)
I can't speak for Nicky B's ethics, but dude has published some great comics. Priest's run on Vampirella is one of the best books every month. But I don't love Dynamite the way I did VEI and VH1 (until Birthquake). While I would love for Dinesh to buy Valiant and make the books great, I haven't been ...

Did Valiant's YouTube channel get nuked?
Decided to rewatch the Ninjak web series/movie, and all I could find was a pirated upload on YouTube. Curious, I looked back at the 2-year-old articles from when it released during the pandemic, and all the embedded videos show that the entire Valiant Comics account has been terminated.

Re: Exclusive: Valiant's Harbinger Film Moves Forward At Paramount With New Director
Honestly, I doubt that the Harbinger film has anything to do with Valiant's comic output in the grand scheme of things. The Bloodshot movie was so divorced from the comics that Dinesh was still an EP despite being canned by DMG.

Re: Layoffs & Resignations Leave VALIANT’s Future in Doubt
It's genuinely amazing they were able to publish the little they did post-pencils down. It was mostly terrible, but they still scraped together enough for a while.
The article doesn't mention any creatives specifically. Be interesting to know if Bunn or Cloonan or Parker have posted anything ...

As the token actual gay person who occasionally posts on this board (I know most of y'all barely know who I am), I agree that woke stuff is cringe. But a character being gay, or black, or trans, or a woman isn't by itself being woke. Woke is when you spend all your time preaching about how virtuous ...

Re: VALIANT(DMG) APRIL 2022 SALES CHART!
I think the only publisher intent on solely publishing comics these days is Image. Mostly because of how the business model is set up. Everyone else either has a shared universe they wanna license to TV and film studios, or they publish licensed comics to pay for the creator-owned stuff they publish ...

Re: Harbinger ending with Issue #8
I feel like the last Valiant comic to make it to issue 12 was Livewire. I'm wondering how long it'll be before DMG gives up on comics. It seems like it wasn't a worthwhile investment for them because only one movies was made and it died due to the pandemic.

I also love Valiant. Have digitally purchased the entire VH1 runs of Shadowman and X-O and quite a bit of the modern stuff. Only Valiant book I'm looking forward to reading new is Shadowman.

Priest on Vampirella
I know Dynamite has problems, but has anyone else read Priest's run on Vampirella/Sacred Six? It's some character defining stuff that also plays heavily into the lore of Vampiri race. And it also has me wondering how Dynamite is able to find fresh new talent like Ergun Gunduz. It's dude's first ...

Re: FCBD 2022….DMG never learn!
I liked Jeff Parker's Red She-Hulk run. A lot. And nice to see Davis-Hunt is still working at Valiant. The rest reserve judgment until I read the actual book. I'm not gonna be mad that Valiant can't afford Grant Morrison or John Romita Jr. Too many comic fans automatically assume new is the same as ...

Re: Milestone Returns
Anyone else reading these books? I'm an issue behind on Static amd Hardware, but so far it's been an enjoyable revamp. The only real complaint I have about the line is that Vita Ayala is... Vita Ayala. It's probably their best work, though.

Re: DMG’s impact on Valiant characters so far!
I voted XO. I'm one of the people who was mostly okay with (but not loving) the DMG stuff when I read it, but this latest XO run was literally the worst Valiant book I've read since the relaunch. At least the first arc of Livewire's ongoing was readable.

Re: Milestone Returns
I've been making my way through the original Milestone books on Comixology while also reading the new stuff. And the old stuff is better. That's not to say the new books are bad, I actually mostly enjoy them, but Dwayne McDuffie was clearly the soul of those books when they launched the first time ...

This is honestly the best sign. I've been worried that Valiant was gonna close down because they were clearly the publisher hit the hardest by the pandemic.

Re: New Exec Editor at Valiant and a promised new direction!
Levin is a former Top Cow guy. I loved the output when he was an editor there. Can't say if I've read any of his writing, though. Hopefully, he gets to actually have a book published. That's the only thing I dislike about David Wohl's tenure: Valiant was just publishing stuff that had been announced ...

I know it's been a few months since this issue came out, but I finally read it on a whim after taking a break from Valiant when X-O wrapped its first stint. And this was great.

Honestly, this seems like a better fit for her. Only books I read from IDW are Sonic and the occasional TMNT collection so I'm relatively free from her influence. And Valiant will surely be better off for it.

How important is colour?
When folks talk about comic sales rising, they usually ignore that most of the growth is in manga. Which is black and white, thus making it cheap to print and can be priced competitively. Would it be a bad idea for Valiant and other American comic companies to experiment with printing B&W trades or ...

Re: Valiant Uprising FCBD 2021
I'm not really reading any Valiant books right now. I'm tentatively excited for Shadowman (who nobody has gotten right since Bob Hall), but beyond that there's not much appealing to me. I don't even know why they're still trying to push X-O when that first arc from Hopeless was horrendously written ...
