Re: Valiant Unveils a Slate of Four All-New Series

The writers of Bloodshot are the most interesting up-and-comers of 2018 (check out their excellent mini-series for Black Mask and their short but very good run on Cable right now). Sophisticated but to the point storytelling, those guys are really excellent!! It's quite a surprise that Valiant ...

Re: My thoughts on D-Day... er... DMG-Day

Could be right. On the other hand, it could be the other way around. If they are clever about it, they will look out for an experienced editor in chief and continue to produce new stories. If it is an IP farm it makes sense to continue doing what VEI was doing before: create interesting outlines ...

Re: My thoughts on D-Day... er... DMG-Day

I'm going to make a prediction on the future of Valiant from this point forward. DMG will still keep publishing comics, but only comics that are in the process of being adapted in other media. That's my interpretation of Mintz's statement. Quantum and Woody, Ninjak, Bloodshot, Shadowman, and ...

Re: VALIANT SOLD

It was always meant to happen, in some way or the another. Let's not kid ourselves: Yes, Valiant was always planned as an "IP farm". The sales generated in the comic market could never have paid for the initial and perpetual investments made by the investors.

In a perfect scenario, they could have ...

4 years ago I found Harbinger 1, 2 and 3 for one Euro each in a comic shop, which was just clearing off its last American books. All in perfect condition. Best comic find I ever made. :cloud9:

Re: Valiant's Survival in the Comic Marketplace

well, it is kind of a puff piece. i'd say that the four sales guys did a pretty good job ;)

i get that dino & crew really like the publishing side of things. but from looking at the raw sales numbers it doesn't take a genius mind to calculate that those can't pay talent and the not-so-little-vei ...

I think, aside from the X-O relaunch, the days of ongoings (12+ issues) might be over...
It's not only Valiant's problem, but that of most small publishers. Here's a year to year comparison:

JANUARY 2013

119 X-O Manowar 9 $3.99 Valiant 16,599
145 Shadowman 3 $3.99 Valiant 13,327
151 Harbinger 8 ...

Re: Likelihood of Wrath getting a deluxe version?

pretty sure they will do a wrath hardcover. it's the definitive "modern" run on the character and the 14 issues are practically the perfect movie-pitch. you want to hand over a nice bound book to potentially interested parties...
mark my words: this will happen.

Re: Valiant from March 2017 and beyond...

i think ongoings, in general, are on the verge of extinction. one has to give credit to vei that their mini-series and one-shots program paid off, they are selling more units in little chunks, than if those series (divinity, britannia etc) would go on. it's really a struggle to keep ongoings on the ...

Re: Should Britannia have been named different?

you raised a good point. but there has to be a reason it was named after a location and not the character. i still don't know how and if axia will interact with the rest of the valiant universe or if maybe other valiant heroes will become part of axia's story in his (britannic!) future.
anyways, he ...

Man this is such a good series!!! The writing, the art, the coloring... One of the highlights of 2016 and Peter Milligan's return to form. Loved the new issue, and also the additional editorial content in the back. Add to that the prestige format and this is easily one of the best packages out there ...
