I for one liked Unleashed Reloaded, heh.Dallow Spicer1 wrote: Wed Dec 25, 2024 2:35 amI only read issue 2 of the anthology, I actually thought it was kind of interesting (in a way). The Bloodshot books have been low IQ nonsense and I stopped reading Shadowman a while back. Would need to see some good reviews to get me to buy into another Bloodshot launch (or tried and tested creators).

I'd love to see you make a post breaking down and explaining what it is you find so great about the Alien and DMG Valiant books. I'm genuinely curious, whenever I've read them I usually feel like they're pretty much the opposite of what I would like Valiant comics to be. And very far in quality and tone from the quality of tone of peak Valiant. At best they seem like passable modern comics made for a general audience, but nothing about them feels specifically Valiant or unique.ManofTheAtom wrote: Wed Dec 25, 2024 6:10 amI for one liked Unleashed Reloaded, heh.Dallow Spicer1 wrote: Wed Dec 25, 2024 2:35 am I only read issue 2 of the anthology, I actually thought it was kind of interesting (in a way). So what is it that makes Bloodshot Unleased Reloaded a great example of Valiant comics? I didn't see that in there.ManofTheAtom wrote: Mon Dec 30, 2024 9:09 pmhttp://www.valiantfans.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=54676Ryan wrote: Mon Dec 30, 2024 7:24 pmI'd love to see you make a post breaking down and explaining what it is you find so great about the Alien and DMG Valiant books. Its not that deep, just wondering what you're seeing in DMG comics like BS Unleashed that puts it on the level of Vh1 for you. Until Beyond, neither DMG nor Alien had done anything to contradict what Dinesh started, like Nicieza did with VH 2. We'll see what happens after.Ryan wrote: Tue Dec 31, 2024 9:36 amIts not that deep, just wondering what you're seeing in DMG comics like BS Unleashed that puts it on the level of Vh1 for you. So would you say maintaining the illusion of continuity is the only thing that makes a comic good or bad to you?ManofTheAtom wrote: Tue Dec 31, 2024 12:04 pm Until Beyond, neither DMG nor Alien had done anything to contradict what Dinesh started, like Nicieza did with VH 2. Yet everything Dinesh and VEI did contradicts all of VH1 and VH2. Why is it only bad when Nicieza does it?

Dinesh didn't contradict VH-1, he restored the majority of VALIANT to what it was before VH-2.Ryan wrote: Tue Dec 31, 2024 1:49 pmSo would you say maintaining the illusion of continuity is the only thing that makes a comic good or bad to you?ManofTheAtom wrote: Tue Dec 31, 2024 12:04 pm Until Beyond, neither DMG nor Alien had done anything to contradict what Dinesh started, like Nicieza did with VH 2. What Nicieza did was keep the trademarks and toss out the copyrights, replacing them with entirely new and different characters.
Dinesh chose, for reasons of his own, to keep certain things from VH 2 like Raymond Garrison over restoring the VH-1 originals like Angelo Mortalli, but that doesn't mean that what he did equates to what Nicieza did.

They're both total reboots using none of the old continuities, so they're a lot more similar than you're saying.ManofTheAtom wrote: Tue Dec 31, 2024 3:39 pm Dinesh didn't contradict VH-1, he restored the majority of VALIANT to what it was before VH-2.

Yes, for over half of the series (X-O, Harb, Ninjak, A&A) the new versions were very similar to the VH1 versions and they used many of the broad plot points from VH1 while changing many of the details.
That's not 'restoring' the continuity, that's re-doing it or doing a remake.
It wasn't just Bloodshot's name, his origin and powers were also much more similar to the VH2 version. Vh1 BS had a minor healing factor, he couldn't reform his entire body after being turned into red mist.

I didn't say he restored the continuity. I said he restored the characters, He didn't bring back Donovan Wiley or create another wearer of the X-O Manowar, he brought back Aric Dacia.Ryan wrote: Tue Dec 31, 2024 3:53 pmThey're both total reboots using none of the old continuities, so they're a lot more similar than you're saying.ManofTheAtom wrote: Tue Dec 31, 2024 3:39 pm Dinesh didn't contradict VH-1, he restored the majority of VALIANT to what it was before VH-2.

Again, he kept the things from VH-2 that worked and should have included in a VH-1 revamp.
BTW, VH-1 Bloodshot did regrow his leg after Proteus blew it up. It was an upgrade to his nanites.

Yeah the Marvelization, over-powering, and fantasy over science really started in post-Unity and especially post-BQ. But there was no reason to continue to make Valiant more like Marvel and go all-in on the fantasy elements.ManofTheAtom wrote: Tue Dec 31, 2024 4:10 pm I didn't say he restored the continuity. This wasn't fantasy, it was science. It was the nanites reconstituting matter. It wasn't the same kind of regenerative abilities Wolverine has.Ryan wrote: Tue Dec 31, 2024 4:36 pmYeah the Marvelization, over-powering, and fantasy over science really started in post-Unity and especially post-BQ. It is. It's nanites that use protein to regrow a missing limb. That's not real science though. It's science fantasy using real science jargon to do something that is way beyond what actual science can do.ManofTheAtom wrote: Tue Dec 31, 2024 7:14 pm It is. It's nanites that use protein to regrow a missing limb. It's not a wizard waving a wand.

Google search, term "are nanites fiction or fantasy"Nanites are considered science fiction as they are microscopic machines based on the concept of nanotechnology, which is a real field of science, although the capabilities often depicted in fiction, like self-replication and complex manipulation of matter, are currently beyond what is achievable in reality.

Of course its science fiction. But its not hard science. Fantastical things that don't happen in the real world being explained using scientific jargon aka soft science fiction aka science fantasy.ManofTheAtom wrote: Thu Jan 02, 2025 6:58 amThat's science fiction.
