I ordered 2 copies and took advantage of the free shipping, but I always took that to mean it will take longer IN TRANSIT, not for Amazon to get the book out. Does "Super Saver" shipping mean other people get their orders placed ahead of yours just because they choose a different shipping option???Second_Death wrote:What shipping method did you select?

It shouldn't be but with Amazon I believe it does. Reason I say that is because I placed an order on Monday of last week and selected the Super Saver option also. The order screen said it would ship in 3-4 weeks I believe. I went back into the order before it processed and selected express two-day shipping. With that change, the order screen stated it would ship same day and it did. The order arrived 2 days later.slym2none wrote:I ordered 2 copies and took advantage of the free shipping, but I always took that to mean it will take longer IN TRANSIT, not for Amazon to get the book out. I'm still waiting for mine too. I ordered the same day as you, and bought come computer stuff I needed too. Used the super saver shipping. I have my computer stuff, but they decided to ship the book separately and it looks like the middle of the month.slym2none wrote:I ordered 2 copies and took advantage of the free shipping, but I always took that to mean it will take longer IN TRANSIT, not for Amazon to get the book out. Theres a button at the very top of the page with your oder that will confirm you still want it. I had trouble finding it too.slym2none wrote:The kicker of it all is, if I don't respond and tell Amazon the later date is OK, I will have the order canceled altogether, and yet I even used customer service and all I got was an e-mail repeating the same useless instructions.

UPDATE: Barnes and Noble for some reason changed their expected ship date to the end of September, so I went ahead and cancelled my order. It looks like I won't be getting a hardcover as I'm not getting one if I don't get a discounted price. Maybe Amazon will have this with the discount again soon...

why would it matter if you get a discount?Brother J wrote:UPDATE: Barnes and Noble for some reason changed their expected ship date to the end of September, so I went ahead and cancelled my order. uh, because I don't want to pay full retail price for this...daydreamscomics wrote:why would it matter if you get a discount?Brother J wrote:UPDATE: Barnes and Noble for some reason changed their expected ship date to the end of September, so I went ahead and cancelled my order. so, you're unwilling to support what i would assume is one of your favorite comic companies over a few dollars, especially at a time when support for VEI is important?Brother J wrote:uh, because I don't want to pay full retail price for this...daydreamscomics wrote:why would it matter if you get a discount?Brother J wrote:UPDATE: Barnes and Noble for some reason changed their expected ship date to the end of September, so I went ahead and cancelled my order. excuse me, but you don't know my financial situation. I'm not going to go into it again as I have mentioned it on the board before, but the bottom line is I don't have a lot of spare money to go to my hobbies right now. My copy from Barnes and Noble was only going to cost about $13 shipped in terms of current cash outlay, since I was able to use a B&N gift certificate I already had in hand (and have had for almost a year). The $13 cash came out of my Paypal account which was money I had in there from selling other comics.daydreamscomics wrote:so, you're unwilling to support what i would assume is one of your favorite comic companies over a few dollars, especially at a time when support for VEI is important?Brother J wrote:uh, because I don't want to pay full retail price for this...daydreamscomics wrote:why would it matter if you get a discount?Brother J wrote:UPDATE: Barnes and Noble for some reason changed their expected ship date to the end of September, so I went ahead and cancelled my order. I even had to think a lot and discuss it with my wife before I participated in Knightt's CF project. Since it was for a good cause, my wife encouraged me to go ahead and do it.
I don't think Dino and co. will live or die if I do or do not pay full retail for their hardcover.

really appreciate the offer, slym. I probably won't take you up on it at this time, but thanks for offering! Just another example of the guys on this board helping each other out as needed.slym2none wrote:BroJ, if you can't get one elsewhere, I have an extra I will let you have for $20, shipped... just let me know. It won't be going anywhere.

your earlier answer about not "wanting" to pay retail is different than being "able" to pay retail.Brother J wrote:excuse me, but you don't know my financial situation. i didn't know about your situation, and didn't mean to dredg up old news. no offense was meant.

i just find it hard to wrap my head around people making a big deal over saving a couple bucks on something they seem to want so bad (this isn't referring to you in any way). it seems like a lot of people expect these to magically appear at their houses despite the complications VEI has had, and are then disappointed when they might have to spend $2-3 more than they originally planned...
i just think we need to think more about supporting VEI and the possibilty of new books than saving the price of a new comic...
sorry if anyone takes offense to this, i just feel VEI is at a very important stage and can use all the support we can give them (ie: fan support by picking up the harbinger hardcover anyway they can)
