I consider what Shooter did with Magnus as a valiant creation in its own right. I've read most of the 60s Magnus books and while they are good they are not great by any means. I would never think to buy a trade of them if it wasn't for Valian'ts early Magnus. Shooter changed so much and made so many right choices it's like he recreated the characters. Leeja is a great example compare her in #13 and onwards to Russ Mannings Leeja. Shooter used the first dozen valiant books to change her into one of the best female characters in comics, even today. The change Magnus himself went through shouldn't be undervalued either. With Manning he was the can do no wrong hero but Shooter had him living in the underbelly of North Am and branded a traitor in just four issues. The x-men have been trying to do that for years (Zero Tolerence) and the avengers have recently had a go too, both failed. So for me Valiant created the Magnus I love

I love Magnus for the same reasons and like Shooters Magnus better. I t was more interesting and exciting for me. BUT, it is still a character that was created before Valiant. Thats why Solar edged out Magnus for me. Plus I always thought EW had the most potential of any character. A few thousand years of history really helps.

The reason that Magnus got my vote is simple - This is the first "true" Valiant comic in my opinion. Sure, we had the WWF and Nintendo issues before this, but Magnus was the first book that began to establish the Valiant universe. That's just what ran through my mind when I saw this matchup.

I agree, Magnus was the first true Valiant "superhero" type book.

I think it is really interesting to see why people decide on the books they do.

I'm guessing that my buddy picked up the BC sighned CEAR that he gave me for my birthday for like 20 bucks. (This is more or less at the time of publication.) Even without the SoA... hee hee hee.

Had the Rai 3 been CENTERED I'd of voted for Rai since it's easily my favorite cover, but as it were that lopped off top edge is enough for Harbinger to get my vote.

I also voted for Solar 10 based on EW first appearance and if given a choice between two NM copies Solar 10 is an easy choice.

Harbinger Pink is an easy winner for me since it was got at such a high price. I do agree with Dino CEAR wouldn't even be on the map if it weren't for this site. Unity Red doesn't even get any respect in Overstreet so it's a certainty CEAR wouldn't be getting any luv for a very long time.
