Does anyone have proof that the VVSS plastic holders ruin the books? I have mine still in the holders that are in good shape and will move them if it is true. Can anyone give explanations of what it does the book or only that it is bad?

Thanks for the help in advance.

I've noticed that my VVss holders or sleaves have become brittel....

This can not be good for the comic inside.

I've removed them and placed them in mylar.

Where do you guys usually get your supplies? I came across this online store that has some good prices when you buy in bulk, but the shipping costs are killer. I'm wondering if it's still a good deal or if you guys know of better sites.

http://www.tcbulk.com/scripts/prodList. ... escription

For example I was thinking about ordering:

10 short boxes: $17.50
1000 silver boards: $42.00
1000 silver bags: $19.75
Shipping: $31.34

I really don't need that many bags and boards, but you have to order them by the 1000's and even with the shipping, it's about the same price as 1/2 as many when ordering from some other stores.

One other question. How often do you guys change out your bags and/or boards?

Most of my collection is in bags that are ~10 years old and I notice the polyethelyne bags are starting to yellow, but the polypropylene bags still loko pretty much new. I'm wondering if I should still change them all out or what.

Do any of you stack the boxes on each other? Is there possible damage to the comics if you do it this way? I started stacking my boxes and noticed that the comic box on the second level is making a dent in the top portion of the box on the first level.

I've gotta stack or over half my house would be boxes on the ground. As long as the boxes are strong, you shouldn't have a problem. I haven't noticed my boxes caving in much.

FINALLY someone else who uses resealable stickers and not tape! i thought i was the only one...

Do any of you guys stack your comics upright on a bookshelf...? I got some valiants beside my trading books, snug, but not too tight.

watch out for bottom wear...i have a couple of "rescued" TPB's that sat on shelves or turnstiles for years and they have scuffing as a result of rubbing on the shelving...
Why waste time learning, when ignorance is instantaneous?

All my books are bagged & boarded and kept in short boxes. I moved from VA to CA and CA to PA. Moving out to CA I realized what a pain long boxes were, so I switched everything to short.

All my valiant boxes are in the same boxes and not mixed with other companies. I change all bags & boards every 7 seven years. I keep all my books in a database and have each box tagged. I keep a record of when boxes where last bagged and board.

The every seven years thing takes about a year to get through. It's a pain, but it's worth it.

Right. But as long as the bottom is resting on the board and not the comic it should be fine right? I just have them kinda snug so they're not being squeezed or leaning against anything.

I have my pre Unity Valiants in Silver Age Mylars with Regular sized boards.

However, I think that's over-kill. What to you guys think?

I think I'm gonna switch them over to to Regular sized Mylites (or just bag) and Boards. :atomic:
