It's a shame that there are 2 threads that have just been turned into speculation. Does anyone read comics?

Yes, but only good ones. So I'm buying very few of these.

If you want the opinions of readers, there aren't many here on VF.com. You have to go to comicbookresources.com forums for readers. The word is very positive over there.

Im only hearing good things, from pre orders to JLA selling out in places who went well over there usual ordering by *SQUEE* much *SQUEE* 500%.

Overall the comics are not going to be bad, just a bit hard to grasp to begin with due to any changes made.
The creative teams all seem solid enough, so all the new readers, old readers coming back and Marvelites stepping over to try a few, then i cant see any negatives.

Just because it sells out doesnt mean the book is good. Youngblood, Cyberstrike, Turok all sold *SQUEE*. You have a lot of people picking up the book for the first time.

How many are fans that were on the previous JLA title? How many are curious about the relaunch and may or may not stay? How many are just buying a #1 to speculate?

To me, the first issue was bland. Not what I would have expected from all the hype. Hopefully it gets better. :hope:

Ok - it looks like Green Lantern #1 takes up immediately following War of the Green Lanterns Aftermath #2 :hm:

I hear what you are saying, but this era should never be compared to the early nineties, that's just unfair, Youngblood could be voted the worst new title of all time.
All of what you note are good questions/points, but this is about bringing people to stores on mass, what happens after is up to the retailers and the publishers to improve quality of books and see where it takes us.
I dont think a large score of people will speculate on a book that has a print run of over 200,000, though stranger things have happened.
I think most of what DC has put out since Infinite Crisis has been average at best, so plenty of room for improvement on this new batch. Justice league looked average from the 1st look to me, though i follow what looks good and there are a slew of books that look great to me.

Action 1 and Batgirl 1 sold out before they hit the stands.

I'm going to be in real trouble if this relaunch ends up forcing Marvel to relaunch all their titles. I may end up needing them all.

The hardest thing for some people is trying to put these stories in any type of chronology. (Me I just read and enjoy)

JLA takes place 5 years in the past.
JLI takes place after the formation of the JLA. How far after? :?
Action Comics takes place 6 months before the events in JLA 1.
Superman shows up in Swamp Thing in Now time.
Batman shows up in Batwing in Now time as well.

4 different time periods in the first 2 weeks of the new releases. Also some books I liked - some I was like UGH!

Men of War - Hawk & Dove - Green Arrow -- Bad.
Action Comics - Batgirl - Swamp Thing - Detective Comics -- Great.
The others are good to decent with Animal Man being --- read it and see.

I took my buddy to get his copies during lunch and we have been at work reading them all since and both been discussing our likes and dislikes about the comics. He is typically a Marvel but his interest was piqued and I just had to feed his hunger.

It seems like just about all the first issues that hit today from the relaunch are now sold out.

Heard mixed reports on most books, but overall the trick was to get more people into stores and back into comics and that was an overwhelming success :)

Yes, and our hobby sure needed it. DC might have been right about this whole relaunch thing.
I'll be reading a few of the new titles, but I'm a Marvel guy. I would love it if Marvel did this. I'm not too worried about Marvel changing anything if they do, as I feel they've long since abandoned Stan Lee's vision for the characters and the Marvel universe. Yeah, change had to happen at Marvel, but virtual complete abandonment didn't.
If I make anything on this DC relaunch by selling my extra copies, it's mostly if not entirely going to go into my small publishing company to help keep it afloat.

There were some ace starts too. Animal Man and Swamp Thing in particular.

Batwoman will be the best looking book, no problem there. It's whether JH Williams can write as well as he draws is the question.

The not so obvious ones this week: Frankenstein & Demon Knights (hopefully both will be somewhere close to Animal Man or Swamp Thing), Suicide Squad (always a great concept) and Mr. Terrific (which I REALLY hope is good as it's a character I feel deserves a shot).

I think Batwoman was delayed so often before that they just shelved it until this new launch.

I read the 0 issue a few months ago and decided to drop further issues then. I am not at all excited about Batwoman.
