Not to jump in the middle here, but as a seller of comics myself on eBay the guy's got to own up to his error here.

Poor packaging IS his problem. I don't care if he made insurance an option. He obviously is way more concerned with the money he's collecting and could care less if his customers receive the product as advertised. It generally costs less than $1 more than actual shipping costs to properly package comics for shipment (a cost that most everyone is more than happy to pay).

Advice for sellers:

1. Don't overgrade your books to get a couple extra bucks out of them!!!! GRRRRR! That *SQUEE* me off! The way to make more money selling comics on eBay is increase your traffic and you're only going to do that by making customers happy so they'll continue to buy from you. Doesn't it make sense that you're more likely to get more for a comic when your customers have confidence that is what it says it is?

2. Take as much care in packaging shipments as you would want if the comics were being mailed to you. If you're mailing comics in boxes they need padding and the box needs to be full so there's no movement. If you're using envelopes you've got to use 8.5x11 corrugated cardboard sheets which are excellent for protecting small shipments.

3. Make insurance mandatory for any purchase amount you aren't willing to refund out of pocket should it come to that (I require insurance for purchases over $20). Let customers know that if they choose not to purchase insurance than you will not be held responsible should the comics be damaged in transit through no fault of your own.

People I have bought from I highly recommend NEVER doing business with:

daredevil168 (defrauded me and slapped me with my only NEG feedback)
cgc*comics (overgrading so bad it's obviously intentional)

Anyway, I'm not here to plug myself. Some members here have bought from me both through this board and via eBay and they were all happy and that's good enough for me.

I hope this info helps!

The *SQUEE*'s % rating when down Thumbs Up
Yeah, unfortunately the five only count as "one" aganist his Feedback Rating, since it depends on the number of users who have given negative feedbacks, not the total number of negative feedbacks.

But man... those five negs really catch the eye, don't they? :D

I would also recommend not buying from 703chang. He sent me some shadowman comics and they were able to flop all over the place. VERY poor shipping. He just laid a little newspaper in the bottom and slapped it together and shipped it out.

I also mention him because he has been buying Valiant stuff around ebay and I feel the injustice that jcdenton feels. Luckily, nothing was damaged, but the principle is still the same.

You can easily outbid him most of the time because he usually only bids very close to the minimum. If you see something you want and he is bidding on it, outbid him! Sorry, that's just my shameless plug.

Is there a sort of "unofficial do not buy from" list around here? I'd be interested to see it.

Oh and yes, those 5 negatives really do catch the eye! 8-)

did anyone notice the flurry of positives that followed the five negatives? All the positives that were left afterwards were from 1 feedback bidders. Looks like the guy must have a couple shill accounts which he used to make his feedback look a little better. It looks like you exposed a real eBay creep with this guy, good job! :thumb:

That's such an obvious shill, you should report him. One of them is even a "new" user. It will get him suspended.

You need to go back in and do a follow up on his reply saying something like this

"Even if it had Ins the Post office don't pay If you don't package properly"

Just to P him Off a little more. But even better it's the truth too.

I'd like to believe this whole thing shook some sense into him, and that he's actually packing properly now. Sadly, I have to wonder if your explanation is actually closer to the truth.

How would eBay be able to "prove" it? Do they track IP's of each bidder?

Check this out. The following are two of his auctions. One of them is over and he has already received positive feedback for it (from--surprise--a new user who had no feedback whatsoever). The other is a new listing that was just posted.

The two auctions are written slightly differently, but the lots are IDENTICAL IN EVERY WAY. Even the SAME EXACT ISSUES are missing from each lot.

Well, well, well... looks like this guy has just screwed himself over royally by leaving those "fake" feedbacks.

I just happened to be looking at his 30 day auction history, and came across 100% absolute conclusive evidence that this guy has been shill bidding on many (if not all) of his auctions.

What I noticed was that on many of his auctions, there were numerous bids by accounts "briscoe1986" and "ydaisy777". And--get this--EVERY SINGLE TIME time his auctions were won by briscoe1986 or ydaisy777, he re-listed the EXACT SAME lot shortly afterwards. But... how could he relist the exact same EXACT lot if he just sold it? Maybe because the winner was... a SHILL ACCOUNT?

To truly get an idea of how completely d a m n i n g the evidence is, look no further than the following Spawn lots he "sold":

Auction #1 (Won by briscoe1986): Issues 6-8,10-15,19,20,25,30-39,75-78,81&86 thru 128
Auction #2 (Won by tuasonc): Issues 6-8,10-15,19,20,25,30-39,75-78,81&86 thru 128

Needless to say, I've reported the *SQUEE* to eBay so hopefully they will ban the *SQUEE* soon.

Just think... if only he hadn't screwed me on my auctions, or if he hadn't left those fake positive feedbacks, nobody would have been the wiser. The fact that he looks to have really screwed himself over royally as a DIRECT result of his lies gives me great satisfaction. 8-)

Just to pile on higher and add a touch to what others have said:

FIRST: Diamond does ship books unbagged/boarded, BUT i've never had them shipped with part of the package empty...in fact, most of my complaints are the opposite: they ship with too much extra paper on the specialty items, which leads to increased shipping costs. Diamond is VERY ineffecient with their shipping procedures, but NOT with their packaging. in the 4 years of having my own store, i can't think of one instance where the packaging (or lack of) was the reason for a damage.

SECOND: I agree with what the other user says...make sure your ebay users offer a refund policy that is fair. I used to put a big spill in my listings about how any item could be returned if unhappy and how with so many good sellers out there, that position seemed to be the minority, etc. I know i am far from the only one, but it does seem fewer and fewer have a solid refund/return policy. I just figure it's a cost of doing business to take a return on occassion.

FINALLY: I would urge everyone to NOT shy away from leaving a negative feedback for a deadbeat, even if you are afraid of retaliation. Feedback ONLY works if the good AND bad is reported. as for my experiences, i got a few, but i think ALL were retaliatory for mine. In any event, once your feedback is up a bit, i don't think people care as much...it seems that some "collateral damage" from dealing on ebay is ineveitable when it comes to feedback...i think most people are looking a the % now, not the amount of neg's.

OK, FINALLY THIS TIME (FOR SURE): We should all petition eBay to count ALL feedback. I understand why the original policy was in place for only counting one feedback from a particular user, but now, an item number is required for EACH feedback, meaning that a successful transaction for EACH listing is necessary for a feedback. if things go south, as a seller, you have to jump through the same hoops and rings to get your listing fees back from a multiple-deadbeat than a one-timer. I think ALL feedback should count, and if you have the same user win 20 auctions, then you should get 20 positives. and vise-versa, with the loser that apparently got booted, all 5 negatives should have counted. YOu can bet your last $, that ebay is getting every last cent from the auction value fees, etc., so i just think the feedback should count.
